How did you figure? Did you weight your truck? What does the door sticker say?

Door sticker was 1085lbs

Empty truck with NO passengers and full tank of fuel is less than that by about 50 lbs or so.

Add rock sliders, skid plate, and a couple off road lights and some tools that stay in the truck and yes i have 650 lbs left with NO passengers and a full tank of fuel
Add me as the driver and max towing would be about 4000 lbs or give me approximately 450lbs of payload remaining

I thought the door sticker included a "standard" driver. After all, it doesn't make much sense to show the payload without a driver. Might as well not include the engine also!

I'm not sure he's doing it right.
Payload number stamped on a door frame sticker is available payload. All standard equipment and options, including a full tank of fuel is already included in the payload calculation.
Basically payload is GVWR - curb weight, and a curb weight is a vehicle weight as it came from the factory, with a full tank of fuel. No driver.

There was a time when PW payload numbers were dismal - right around the time when they switched from rear leaf springs over to coil springs, but I was under the impression that the payload numbers were brought back up in recent years.

No it doesnt include driver it is posted as available payload. Any Person/Passenger takes away from that number. Like i said it didnt even match with just empty vehicle and full tank of fuel. It should be as built with any options etc..

Pretty hard to mess up taking a truck across the scales and weighing it and comparing that against GVWR (GVWR - Weight Slip = remaining available payload)
- 2 engineering degrees and needing to do the above is included in job description to ensure any and all testing is within legal and as designed specs

Again the sticker was not accurate even with full tank of fuel as built (but it was close)

Nope still dismal payload numbers (2019 here, so cant use the argument they bumped it up with the refresh)

GVWR - 8565lbs
Payload Sticker - 1083 lbs
First weigh empty truck, full fuel tank, no passengers - 7560 lbs
Available payload 1005 lbs (again i am not in the vehicle and nobody else is)
***sticker is off by 78 lbs just by filling up fuel tank**
-no occupant included in payload sticker

by my math that 78 lbs indicates sticker-ed with about 1/2 tank of fuel

Second weigh 7880 lbs
*tools, sliders, skid plate, front diff guard, off road lights (again no passengers, full tank of fuel)
Available payload - 685 lbs

1595394394548.png

Third weigh - 8900 lbs
*tools, sliders, skid plate, front diff guard, off road lights, full tank of fuel, snowmobile in bed of truck, me as driver and dog in backseat (St Bernard)
Available payload - (-335 pounds) overweight

I can pull out my binder and take pictures of the other 2 weigh slips if i need to further prove myself

Nah, no need to prove anything, When I asked you earlier if you weighted your truck, you didn't reply to that and your reply was a little confusing.
But yeah it all makes sense now, my bad, thanks for clarifying.

So to give an accurate answer to the OP's question. 2020 PowerWagon with a Hawk Four Wheel camper. Averaging 9.5 MPG. I drive super conservative and this is a mix of highway and off-road, not much around town driving. MPG is not an issue for me it's the range. These trucks have undersized fuel tanks in my opinion.

And don't get scared about GVWR. All I run is a set of airbags and better e-rated tires and have no issues. Most people run these campers on 1/2 ton truck, I did for many years. The Power Wagon will handle a FWC no problems at all.

The whole idea of asking peoples mpg is pointless. It's never apples to apples. Just too many variables. That's why you should only compare EPA #'s.

Having said that :p
~12mpg combined on 35" tire (calibrated speedo/mpg) @~5000 ft elevation.
1100lb payload (before passengers, mods, etc).

I posted this over in the 6.4L forum: I test drove a 2020 Power Wagon and got about 10 mpg on a 100 mile loop doing 80mph for most of it, near sea level. I had a 2014 Laramie that would get 15mpg on the same road at the same speed. They were pretty much identical trucks other than the PW goodies. Same cab and bed, same engine, same gears, roughly the same size tires. The Power Wagon had 600 miles on it. That's a big difference in mpg to blame on tire style and a small lift.

I am very interested in getting a Power Wagon but the mpg hurts. It isn't the cost of fuel so much as the short range that is bothersome. I don't see much of anyone else posting such low mpgs, even with 35's. Is it that no one else drives 80mph?

my door sticker. I just weighed my truck with full tank of gas 6950lb.. I added oem tube steps which are light probably 30 lbs, it has 35 toyos on salta wheels and a full size spare so that adds a bit of weight vs oem tires and wheels, dethloff tranny skid which adds probably 30-35lbs. so my payload is actually higher than what is on the door sticker. mines a 2020 with just the level 1 group. I wonder how much the tailgate weighs? If running a camper most likely would remove it.

I wish I had that payload.

Just weighted my 3G, I have 1030 available payload. Have a 4 door, 4” rancho lift, 35” BFGs E rated and snug top cab which should be about 150 lbs.
Since I am planning to put a pop up camper, I am looking to add the Carly airbags which supposedly doesn’t limit articulation like the regular ones. At $850 is a tough pill to swallow. Anyone has experience with those?

One more thing, before I buy the camper, plan to stop by Lowe’s and get 15 bags of concrete mix, 80lbs and $4.58 a bag, to have a better idea of how my truck will handle 1200 lbs for a few days, consumption, cornering , etc. I know the center of gravity will be a bit different, but I think a good investment before dropping 20K for a camper. Best case scenario I can return the bags to Lowe’s :)

Don't fret over it. Honestly after a day or two you won't even notice the camper in the bed. These trucks handle the weight no problem. Speaking from experience, 2020 PW with a Hawk FWC.

So I put 1600 lbs of quickrete to drive it over the weekend w/o suspension airbags. Tires are at 50 FR, 55R. OEM leaf springs almost flat. Fender came down 3 inches. Driving from Lowe’s was slow but didn’t feel unsafe, a bit better than towing an 8K trailer. Will report soon.

Leaf springs??? What year is your PW?
PWs has had the coils all around for nearly a decade (I think)

Yes , 2006, 6 speed manual transmission, when you could buy them for under 40K. :) . I bought it Nov 2006, have 44K miles on it. No repairs, just batteries and oil, a keeper.
