You pull a 42' 5th wheel with a SRW 2500?! You can't have more than 1800lbs payload on that thing. A 42' 5th wheel is a job for a 3500 dually. Pin weight on a loaded 42' 5th wheel has to be 3000lbs+ at least(and that's on the low end). Not to mention the people are cargo in the truck. Can’t wait to install 150 dB train horn as well. As I tow a 42 foot 5th wheel it will come in handy.
My 2016 pulled it all just fine. You pull a 42' 5th wheel with a SRW 2500?! You can't have more than 1800lbs payload on that thing. A 42' 5th wheel is a job for a 3500 dually. Gotcha... I've been thinking about doing a shorter one behind the grill. I was wondering if you had gone that route.Good eye... I don't have a cool picture with it on yet. I was not happy with the actual Light Bar either. Supposed to be a 40", is actually about 38-1/2 and is not too bright.
Here is a pic just after I made the mount and connected the light. I had a Rigid Radiance on my last truck and I should have pulled it off. View attachment 528
Of course it can pull it. A tesla pulled an airbus. That means nothing. Anything can pull anything. You're so far over the weight limit. It isn't safe and risks damage. You also risk a fine and should you get in a wreck the insurance company is going to investigate and when they see that they will drop you. There's limits on these things for a reason. And the cost difference going to a 3500 and then a dually is minor. Why not just get the proper tool for the job?My 2016 pulled it all just fine.
I wanted to do that too. i spent what seamed like hours trying to study where and how to place one. Can't disrupt the camera and sensors too. I was worried about taking off some of he parts as it seams far more complicated than past trucks. Also does not seam to be much structure to mount secure brackets too. In the end, i settles on an external set-up and built it to interface where the tow hooks attach. I think a winch mount or brush guard could easily interface there too. i didn't cut or modify anything so if something comes out better, i can switch.Gotcha... Already hit 1000 miles in first week, so went and grabbed the boat to get it cleaned up for the weekend. Monday I will be hooking up to the 5th wheel.
