This is my third Ram diesel 2020 model with the dreaded cp4. Wasnt aware of this when I purchased back in May. So either a cp3 conversion and lose warranty or she goes up for sale..dang.. it is setup just as I wanted

There sure seems to be a lot of new members joining to post about the CP4.
Are people just creating new accounts to make it appear as though there are more issues?
I'm honestly curious; not sure I've ever seen an issue / potential issue with so much noise in such a short time.

And, for @GBB - I'm concerned but certainly not ready to ditch my 2020. To me, that seems like a knee jerk reaction. YMMV.

I’ve been on TDR and couple other sites for years. This site just seems to be more active. As far as knee jerk reaction I travel to a lot of remote areas (Dalton Hwy, Yukon territories to name a few. I don’t want to worry bout a fuel pump sh@tying the bed and having thousands in a tow bill..now if I used my truck as a grocery getter like a lot of people I wouldn’t worry bout it

Doesn't your RAM come with 36 month roadside assistance? I don't think you'd be on the hook for "thousands in a tow bill". Maybe your warranty is different, but that would surprise me.
I get the concern, but I don't think there is yet enough evidence to make a hasty decision.
But, your choice. I plan on keeping mine.

From everything i have seen if the cp4 does not fail by 13000 miles it should be good.... besides you can just wait as they seem to be working towards a recall.....

Hi there, welcome! Firstly, as the Customer Care Team, we do not recommend altering your vehicle outside of factory specifications. We would also like to inform that there is currently a service solution in progress for all 2019- 2020MY vehicles equipped with CP4 high pressure pump. Further updates will be announced as soon as more information becomes available. If your vehicle requires dealer services in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team via private messages. We would be more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process.

Seeing as altering the vehicle is not recommended...
I was wondering what's @RamCares suggested actions after your CP4 fails? If we're being honest with customers...

Here's what you can expect. The vehicle stops without warning, you wait hours beside the road for a tow truck, its towed to a Ram service center where it sets for months waiting for parts. You'll have a Ramcare case open, NO LOANER, you can rent a truck and wait for reimbursement (3-4 months possibly more), now you're looking at 3k/ $4000+ out of pocket rental fees, while you continue to make the truck payments. If you ask to speak to a Ramcare supervisor " they don't have time to speak to you" so you're stuck with no help and nothing to drive. If you ask to have your case escalated, Ramcare will deescalate, claiming it doesn't warrant escalation (happened 3 times).... So, after months of waiting you receive the truck back with another CP4 pump installed, and you began waitng for the next failure.

I post this as a warning to others, we're a normal military family, and this almost bankrupted us, and still could... While promises of a "service solution" coming may comfort some, when your CP4 fails... you're in the fight alone.

Just a thought... Americans are forgiving people for the most part; own that the pump was faulty, make things right with owners of the effected vehicles, prove that brand loyalty means something. You could save millions in advertising in this one action!!

Sounds like Ram stood by their product and fixed your truck. Too bad they wouldn't front the cost of a loaner for you if that was going to cause a potential financial issue like bankruptcy. New doesn't mean free from issues, life is all about planning for the unexpected.

Over 4 months to repair is way outside excepted standards for down time. I want even get into the other 4 times it was in the shop during the first 6 months before the pump... That it’s been back 2 times since the CP4 repair, and is scheduled to go back tomorrow for more repairs. I’m sure If you’d bought a $75k truck, you’d feel the same way.

Financial issue came with having to buy another truck just to have reliable transportation.

Damn... I would be beyond pissed! Really sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble. I would be looking for a lawyer if it was my truck honestly.
I am just lurking here trying to decide if I should take the dive and give FCA a shot after seeing their quality over the years.

I filed one, while they talk about “service solutions” up here... they’ll fight you ever step of the way when yours fails. I’ve had absolutely no help, and I was told the down time wasn’t waiting on parts, it was waiting a “updated work around part”. The symmetrical CP4 Pump seems like that was the case. I purchased a new truck, not a ticket to be Rams guinea pig for fuel pump roulette.

The 2021’s are probably a different beast all together. As bad as my experience has been, I would still say go drive one.

This is good news and I hope the solution is available soon. I have a 2019 Ram 2500 that I love and want to keep long term but I’m concerned about the CP4 failures. Just hoping my CP4 lasts until the “service solution” is made available.

I’m with you, I wanted/expected mine to last long term. Mine was down from July-Nov and was return with another CP4 pump! If my new pump was a solid repair, why didn’t ram continue with it in 2021 model. Doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy feeling that the 2021 have a completely different pump just weeks later.
