Just towed my 31 ft travel trailer (weighs around 6300 lbs loaded) this weekend. The truck has 3.73 gears. On the way to the campground, I was averaging 27L/100 km with a headwind and in 7th gear (wouldn't shift to 8). On the way home, with no wind and also in 7th gear, I averaged 22L/100 km taking the same route. The truck would not shift into 8th due to the varying elevation in the road. Both ways in 7th the truck sat at 2000 RPM.

Not towing anything, I usually average about 15 - 18L/100 km around town.

I'll likely be filling up today for the 1st time. The truck says 12.8 for this 1st tank, but I'm ignoring that for now. Just not enough miles on it, too much idling while figuring out how to do things, no idea what the dealer put in it, etc. I have not towed anything yet, and half my miles are short 10 minute trips.

I logged every fill up in my Sierra on Fuelly, so I'll definitely be doing the same thing for this truck.

Wow that is horrible MPG or LPG.

When not towing I get about 6 to 14 l/100 km on the live economy when driving under 100km/h (62 mph) and on the average from stop and go in traffic it is usually at 18 l/100 km.

8 l = 29 mpg
14 l = 16 mpg
18 l = 13 mpg

Overall I'm pretty happy with the Hemi and it's economy. I knew getting it it was going to be worse then my '18 1500 but its only slightly worse.

I have a 700km trip coming up where I'm towing my trailer so that should be some good data. Figure it will be 3 fuel stops.

That's pretty good towing mileage. I haven't towed with the 2500 yet, but my '15 1500 w/ 5.7l Hemi gets about 6-9mpg towing a 5,000 lb trailer at 60mph, 8th gear, somewhere near 1600rpm. It's a Rebel w/ 4.10 gearing, so it's not optimal for economy.

So made the trip yesterday with my travel trailer. Total distance driven was 646 km's (401 miles). Average fuel economy was 28L/100km (8mpg). Live economy was anywhere between 21l (11 mpg) to 36l (6.5mpg). Had a head wind half of the drive and rolling hills most of the drive. Used 200l (52 us gal) of fuel for the drive. Manual calculation was 31l/100km.

Overall with the head wind and hills I'm saitfied with the usage. The wind killed the economy the most. Wind was gusting up to about 32km/h (20mph) in places.

Trailer is a 2019 Keystone Hideout 26LHSWE. Wasn't fully loaded but had some gear and clothing in it.

I'll update in a week for the return trip home and see how it differs.

Weights from the scale.

Front axel: 1790 kg (3946 lbs)
Rear axel: 1930 kg (4255 lbs)
Trailer axels: 2670 kg (5886 lbs)

This was just with my dog and I in the truck. Usually my family and I with the dog is about 500 lbs of weight.

This scale is from a uncontrolled weight station that has a single pad. I pulled each axel into the center of the pad and the weights above are what I got off the scale. Calibration is checked by the commercial enforcement officers from my understanding.

Ok just did the return trip home and this was my average when I pulled up to my driveway. I had reset the trip meter in the campground I was staying in. .

Overall pretty happy with it. Wasn't as windy today but had more weight (extra 400 lbs) in the trailer then I did going down.

Drove about 2300 km's this week.

25.8 l/100 km = 9.1 mpg

Running a 2019 crew cab Bighorn with 3.73 gears, stock 33s, added topper half way through, have 2100 miles currently. Without topper, first 1000 miles at 65 mph, getting 16-18 mpg depending on wind, running 1800 rpm. At 80 mph 14-16 mpg, running 2000rpm. Add topper, mud flaps, so at 65 mph getting around 16.5 mpg and at 80 mph around 15 mph with little wind factor. Last week numbers includes 5 new 35" tires in the back so I have more weight than topper, ~ 400 lbs) and I have gatorback mud flaps all around.. My avg with the topper and tires is ~13.5 mpg includes city, highway, and lot of interstate driving. I think the topper dropped the mpg .5 -1 mpg with wind, but made it ride better. Waiting on new rims to mount the 35s, should know more in a few weeks. Adding flares, leveling kit and new shocks, high flow muffler, and pedal commander as well. In my Yukon high flow muffler k&n factory replacement filter gained me about 2.5 mpg. Not sure about doing the K&N, but maybe exhaust will help offset the 35s.

Just drove from Baltimore, MD to Ashville, NC and back. Had cruise set between 70 and 80 the whole way (even through the mountains) and average about 18mpg.

I was pretty happy with that.

That's better than what I was getting on my 2019 1500...

Just passed the 3000 mile mark, getting on average 14-16 mpg. Hwy miles look better but haven’t taken any long trips to get some good mileage numbers. Now, towing get about 9-10 mpg but I live in hilly mountain area. The mileage is definitely better than my 2011 2500HD, average for that truck 12 -14 mpg on a good day.

Are your trucks loosening up a bit after putting some miles on? I haven't hit 12 mpg yet, but I'm only at 750 miles. I wasn't expecting 16 like my 1500, but was hoping to get around 14.

Any details about your truck, gear ratios, 4X4, etc
