I have this WD hitch - https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Reese-49903-1000-Sway/dp/B0071XQ4V8/ - which I had on my 2019 1500 to pull our TT. Camper is 33' tip to tail, 6,100 lbs dry weight and I haven't been to the scales since I replaced the mattress but I'd say tongue weight is knocking on 800 lbs. Pulled nice and level with the 1500.

Today I was taking care of some other things at the camper and not thinking too much about it decided to see about reconfiguring the hitch for my new 20 2500 Cummings. Whoops can't hook up because the ass end is too high, with only 1 more position of drop left.

Would this drop shank be a good choice? https://www.campingworld.com/weight-distribution-shank-7quot;-91486.html Or should I go longer? Assuming I don't need to stick with Reese as long as it's standard hole spacing and rated for the weight. NOTE: When I look up the CURT part number I get different specs than the description - max drop is 7 inch - never trust Camping World's specs on the website.

There's a variety of shanks out there with different drop and rise heights. The WDH I had with the Ram 1500 didn't drop enough, so I went with this one from Amazon Eaz-Lift https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VB0HKI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . The old shank came out far enough so I could let the tailgate down, so made sure to get one that would allow the same thing. Since the new shank stuck out about two inches further, I drilled another hole to match the old hitch position.
