Im not good with electrical systems and much less vehicle electronics specially with how these new trucks come. I want to add fogs to my tradesman I have the Baja designs kit in mind and do not want to tap into any existing wiring such as low beams or anything. I wanna run it from battery to a aftermarket switch in the cab my question is what all does the harness need to have and if anyone could dumb it down for me as to what everything would get hooked up do I have to tap into anything or is it just a matter of hooking up power and ground to harness to to then give everything power. I have a harness in mind Baja designs says it’s specific for these can anyone give me some knowledge on this subject. Also would the lights flicker since they are LED or would they be fine just being ran from battery without anything added onto the harness such as resistors

I just installed one of these on my truck.
The switch is ran off of a switched fuse so the lights can only work if the truck is on.
I have ordered the parts to add "factory" fog lights to my truck and I will just add them to a button on the switch panel.
It makes thing easy as all the wiring including relays are already in place. Just add your accessories and run the wires to your engine bay.

So the harness as a piece of it running off of it to a fuse do they include a fuse tap then to just remove the old one and include it in the tap or???

The fuse tap is not included. I found one at autozone
The small red wire can be ran to the battery or a aux power source.
If you connect it to the battery the switch display is always on and can be used when the truck is off (could cause your battery to drain). I used a mirco2 fuse tap and tapped into the fuse for the sunroof (My truck does not have a sunroof). Since the sunroof fuse is only powered when the truck the switch display will only work when the truck in on.
The nice thing about this unit is that it "remembers" the switch position. If your light is on and you turn the truck off your lights will go off but they will automatically turn back on when you turn your truck back on.
I'll get some pictures of how I mounted everything later today if I can.

So is it possible the Baja harness had a fuse tap already then and I would hook up to that as well and my battery and grounds and do you happen to remember the fuse # for the sunroof

I doubt the Baja has a fuse tap in it.
Looks like all that harness needs is a power supply and a switch.

I believe the switch is already there so by what your saying is if a fuse tap isn’t used I run the possibility of draining my battery regardless even if I leave the switch off since it will have constant current ??? And the fuse allows for it to be cut off once the truck turns off

With the switch in the off position you should be ok .
But since its ran to your battery directly you could drain the battery if you turn them on and forget them when the truck is off.

I looked at the Baja design kit but decided to go with the more "factory" look.
I purchased everything to add OEM fog lights to my truck and and its cheaper.

If you are curious there are several threads about that on here.
The parts I ordered:

Fog Lamp Bezel Kit
$13.09

$0.48
6508065AA
Hex Head Bolt And Coned Washer, Mounting
$1.25

$1.25
I only ordered one of each bolt since I have access to them for free.
The only thing not listed is the connectors for the bulbs but they can be found at the parts store for cheap as well.

With this setup the truck can be returned to stock in short order if ever needed.

I run mine with a relay, through a harness I built, getting power from the battery and signal from the running lights. So they’re on with the auto lights and off with the switch. They’re also on with parking lights and high beams. No user input required.
