Driving on the highway yesterday, not towing, I noticed on the Evic that an automatic regen had started. About 5 minutes into this regen, the Service DEF See Dealer message appeared on the evic. After a few seconds, this went away with the Automatic Regen message reappearing. Eventually the regen finished and everything seemed normal, however, every restart yesterday had the Service DEF System reappearing for a few seconds on the evic but no CEL. Today the message indicated the dreaded countdown to limp mode had begun but still no CEL. The truck is a 2020 3500 with 46000km on the clock. It's currently sitting at the dealer waiting for them to check it out. Is it pure coincidence the message first appeared during a regen or is it related?

It’s pure coincidence since the DPF/regen is independent of DEF/SCR.

Thanks. Will have to wait to see what the dealer says. My truck has the 90A recall still outstanding so they'll likely take care of this also.

My truck has been fixed. I'm impressed the dealer was able to get it back to me a day after I dropped it off with no appointment. It needed no parts other than what was included for the 90A recall. Seems like driving at a steady highway speed was key to getting rid of the derate message. I've attached pictures of the dealer service order.

As stated above the Service DEF message is not associated to the DPF or regens. I am glad they were able to clear the fault and get you back on the road, hope she stays running good for you.
