Axle Differentials For 2020 Ram 2500/3500?

I'm thinking of adding differential locks onto my 2020 Ram 2500 and 3500. However, I've read a few posts where people say that beginning with 2019 the differentials on the Rams were different from thise used in say a 2015 model. However, I see that they still ise AAM 9.25 axles for the front and AAM 11.5 axles for the rear, which are the same as the older models, correct? Or do they have something different?

According to Yukon Gear, the 2019+ Power Wagon rear 11.5 have larger 32 spline pinion, different carrier, and different axles....I would assume the regular 2500 is probably also different, possibly even more so. Also The LSD on the 2019 2500s is also now a clutch pack LSD vs helical gear.

I see. So the 2020 3500 have either an 11.8 or a 12"? And for the 2500 even though it still has an 11.5 the spline pinions are larger now, so in essence both the 2020 2500 and 3500 have different axles than the pre-2019 models?

When I spoke with AEV this past December they stated that there were no aftermarket gear sets available for the 2019+ 2500 or 3500 with the exception of the Power Wagons. If I understood them correctly, the 2019+ Power Wagons still had AAM 9.25 and 11.50 axles that were able to be upgraded using aftermarket gearing. All other 2019+ AAM 9.25 and 11.50 axles had changes which would require different ring and pinion gears.

I do hope someone comes out with gears soon so we have that option.
That's unfortunate. Is this only if we want to re-gear, or for any differential changes as well such as swapping the differentials?

According to Yukon Gear, gear sets will not fit 2019+ power wagon rear ends either, based on what I said above (pinion diameter, etc)

sounds like the 2019+ Power Wagon rear end substantially is different from the 2019+ regular 2500 rear end, both of which are different from the 2018 rear end.

AAM site shows 3.73 / 4.10 / 4.44 gears for 2019+ HD Rams. The 11.5" rear for 2500's shows good from 2019+ and the 9.25" beam front shows the gear sets are good from 2020+. Not sure what was different in 2019 for the front axles.

I am in the process of researching my upgrade to 4.10 - since you can get them on the gasser and I don't believe the axles are different between gas / diesel, stands to reason that they should be fine.

Here's hoping.....

3.73 to 4.10 sounds like a baby jump for the money/effort. You know you want them 4.44s!

https://www.demandaam.com/product-catalog/axle/ring-pinion-gear-sets

Just confirmed with 6 states distributors that AAM said these parts are good through 2024 models - interesting that AAM would volunteer that info. I ordered my 4.10s.

And yes, Epsilon Plus, I want 4.44 on 38's - but I'm trying to make this a jack-of-all-trades truck - so making some compromises here and there.

Also - I'm getting the AAM e-locker for the front in the process and putting a torsen differential in the rear - because all you who like your LSD and play in the dirt or snow are going to have to shell out some money at 20k miles anway to service the clutch packs on the current LSD configuration. So not just a gear change, but while it's opened up for the locker and diff, might as well upgrade the gear ratio.

A lot of money for what some see as marginal value? Maybe. This truck is replacing 2 cars and another truck -so I have some insurance savings and maintenance savings to play with :) Building it exactly the way I want it.

If you are swapping out the rear stick a E locker back there too. The torsen is garbage off road. If one tire has no traction it acts like a open diff.

He will have an e-locker for off road. Open diffs are fine for everyday driving

Nobody makes a rear locker for the aam 12. ive made few calls to ARB and the manager there said not enough interest. maybe if a few more people call they might move their butt.... Scott is the name of the manager if anyone decides to call.

@ramblinChet - I did order them, but won't pay until install. I was quoted about $950 for the gear set parts (front and back)

Any update on gear options fella's? I have looked to the best of my ability and still nothing.

33's to 35's.. didn't really notice the power difference. 35's to 37's.. that took the wind right out of her sails.

Hoping to fix this with 4.56s or something!

Are there elockers for the 11.5? I was just discussing with a friend about a PW axle swap on my 20 hemi. But front and rear e lockers and a 4.10 gear swap would be great. I currently have 3.73s and the hemi doesn't like my 35s.

The PW comes with front and rear lockers, 4.10 gears and torsen rear LSD. Mine works great on 35's. ;)

I know it does. But I needed a truck and no one had a PW on the lot anywhere near me. So I'm stuck with my 3.73s. But looking to upgrade. I know air lockers are pricey, and unless I missed something on the website, they don't have them for a 20.

I also know that PW axles "should" bolt up, but integrating them into the oem stuff to look like a factory install will be a pain.
