Auto High Beams not working-Dealer says my truck doesn’t have it. 2024 Limited Longhorn

Hi all,

I’d like to see if someone can help. I recently traded in a 2022 Ram 3500 Limited, on which the auto-dimming worked perfectly.
This 2024 is a Limited Longhorn Megacab. I’ll attach a photo of the window sticker. Since I got it, the auto dimming has not worked. It never displays a message on the dash. I’ve had it at the dealer twice and they can’t figure it out. I left the truck with them all day today, and finally they just said “your truck doesn’t have this option”.
I know anything is possible, but I find it hard to believe Ram would do away with this feature. I spoke to my salesman and he even tried to build another truck, but said there was no outright option for auto-dimming lights, so it’s not like he forgot to order it.
I put a call in to Ram Care, but the lady said they’d have to review the info and get back with me.
Anyone out there having this issue or know how to address it to get it working?IMG_8603.png

Assuming you’re looking for the automatic high beam control feature?

Pull your build sheet and look for AUTO HIGH BEAM HEADLAMP CONTROL

What do you mean by “auto-dimming”? The headlights don’t automatically dim at all. There’s a setting where they’ll automatically come on with day and night cycle… There’s also one where the high beams automatically turn on when no vehicles are in range, and off again when they are…
If you have adaptive headlights they’ll slightly turn with the steering, one of the fog lights will turn on when you turn hard one way at low speeds, and one of the fog lights will turn on with the turn signal…

Do you have rain sensing wipers? I know yours is a Limited Longhorn, but I just ordered a Bighorn, and the auto dimming lights and auto wipers are part of a package.

The part where you say “off again when they are”, that’s automatically dimming the headlights.

Yes, Auto High Beam control.
Build sheet doesn’t state it, but there was no option to choose it or not when building the truck for order.

Ah. Auto high beams. There’s a radio setting to enable them. In my 2022 limited it’s in safety in the settings. Then you have to push the turn signal lever forward to get them to turn “on”. Them I think the screen says something like “Auto High beams enabled”.

I’ve been through the settings a hundred times, but just to be sure I checked again after reading this, and nothing there

There would definitely be a setting for it so you could override it. Clicking it “off” makes the high beams work manually. I can see what page mine are on and screenshot it for you…

Here’s the pics of the screens. It’s in vehicle, settings, lights. And I stand corrected as the settings is called “auto dim high beams”. Here’s also what the cluster shows when I push the turn signal forward.

Yep, that option isn’t there for me.
@RamCares any insight?

I’d pull your build sheet and make sure you do have it. I don’t know how you wouldn’t in a longhorn… If it’s on your build sheet then maybe the dealer needs to reflash your truck to be sure it’s in the programming?

I can’t find it on my build sheet, but I also can’t figure out how it wouldn’t be on there. The only option I don’t have is a sunroof. My last truck stickered for $92,xxx and now this one is $106,200 but somehow I didn’t pay enough for auto-dimming/auto high beam lights. Wtf

Only other thing I can think of is if they don’t put it on build sheets. I’m pretty sure mine was on mine. I watched closely since I special ordered my truck. I’ll get on my computer and double check after dinner.

The spec sheet lists it as standard on limited trims, but the build sheet will give you the best answer on if it was built with it. It was listed on them as Auto High Beam Headlamp Control in the past with this link

https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing

My 22 was listed as supposed to have it but it was built without it since it’s not compatible with the DRVM without the safety group, FCA cut me a check for misadvertising the feature. You have the safety group, so that shouldn’t be the issue.

2024 ordering guide shows it as standard equipment for 2024 3500 MC Longhorn and Limited trims.

AUTO HIGH BEAM HEADLAMP CONTROL (LMS)

Would show up as LMSS on your build sheet since it's standard but it is not there.

Maybe it was not available due to chip shortage when your truck was built and was dropped as part of the standard equipment?
