Hello All! First post here in the forum. I recently purchased a 19 2500 w/ the Cummins and have been very displeased with the performance of the a/c system. I live in Texas and the a/c just can’t keep up with the heat it seems. I returned the truck to the dealer last week and they said they could not duplicate the issue but evacuated and recharged to be on the safe side. The truck still doesn’t seem to be cooling anywhere near as well as the 17 1500 Hemi I traded in.

I saw the 19 1500s had issues with the a/c but I haven’t seen any complaints about the 2500s.

Anyone else having weak performance from their a/c?

Thanks for the link, I will migrate my post over there. For whatever reason that post did not populate when I utilized the search function. Thanks again @Camarochevy1970 !

I've heard about these A/C probs. in the HD's., so you KNOW that Ram knows about it. I'm glad I'm still holding back on ordering a 2500/3500 .

Best of luck @elephantrider but I'd be highly surprised if the dealer comes back with anything other than it is working within spec...which it is, however the 'spec' sucks.

Whatever they did to the AC, it is currently inadequate... this has been a known issue/concern since the 2019 1500's were out last year.
Not sure if it is not a priority, or they have no clue how to make the AC actually blow cold air.

Don't expect a fix. I brought this up over a year a go with Ram, my local dealer, and Ram Cares. Basically, they don't acknowledge that it's an issue. They always claim it falls within "spec". Whatever spec they use doesn't come close to any other AC I've ever felt. If you want a cold AC, you're going to have to get another brand. Ford and GM both blow anywhere from 15-20 degrees colder than my Ram. It gets cool eventually, but your climate will determine your patience level with this AC system.

Didn't I read somewhere that a fix was in the work? Pretty sure I did...

Found it:

Hello everyone, we wanted to touch base to provide an update on this concern from our end. Please know that this is on our radar as we are working diligently to make sure both your concerns and findings are heard. As of now, we have a new part in development. However, due to COVID restrictions, production has been delayed. We anticipate to have a resolution for this soon, and will be sure to keep you updated as we know more.

Great question, @2019_Ram! At this time since the fix is still in development there isn't official documentation (eg: STAR case #, TSB, etc.) Please know that once this is available we will post it out here.

@OuachitaAdventure is correct... dealers won't do anything because it is within 'spec'...they aren't going to spend their time on something they won't be reimbursed.

RAMCares did say there was something in the works back in July, but honestly I don't expect to see anything for 4-6 months (Nov-Jan)... I'd be thrilled if it was sooner, but I'd be happy to not have to go through another summer.

Some folks have put a valve, or a clamp, in the heater core line which has shown to drop the AC temp quite a bit.

I read on the Facebook ram page people were saying the from the factory there low on freon .Some I've heard have fixed that issue by adding freon .

I know I'm being pedantic, but technically "some have fixed" it by doing a complete evacuation, pull down leak test, and recharge to spec with the required coolant and lube oil.

The question is finding a dealer willing to do that when the AC comes back 'within spec'....
