Hopefully, looking to see how the 3.73 handles the 5er and typical mpg.A lot of guys are, maybe some will check in.
We just bought the Cougar 24RDS, 28.5 feet long but we are still waiting for our TruckMine handles my 31ft Cougar 27SGS just wonderfully. Average over the last 3 trips (total of 2000 miles) has been about 10mpg.View attachment 20945
What kind of mpg typically?2021 Tradesman 6.4L/3.73. 2017 Coachman Chaparral 295bhs. Trailer is just under 36', 11000 lbs loaded with 1750 lb pin weight.
Pulls like a dream!

Towing average is 10.62 mpg. I'm kind of "old school" and write down miles and gallons at every fill up and whether towing or not. What kind of mpg typically?
I only average 8.5 to 9.5 towing my travel trailer, but I do have 4.10 gears. The 6.4 pulls easily, but I've never been able to hit 10 mpgSo you guys are killing the standard output 6.7L Cummins in MPG. I just did a 700 mile trip to Myrtle Beach and back from Pittsburgh Pa area with my Grand Design 311BHS (3K pin weight, 11K on trailer axles, 37' long) and averaged a solid 8.4 every time. I should have kept my old 2019 2500 6.4L. I'm not that impressed with the Cummins from a MPG or a power standpoint compared to my 6.4L with the ZF 8 speed. I suspect that I just wasted $75K and will will regret it. And to rub salt in that wound, I have a 22 longhorn ordered with the same 6.7L... I could save $10K and gain MPG by walking on the order and re-ordering a 6.4L.
How many miles? I was saying the same thing up until about 15k, numbers are actually getting decent for what I'm doing now. My towing numbers at way too fast, are basically matching the 16 PW (Hemi 6sp) was getting empty. The elevation out here also sways in the diesel favor for me though. So you guys are killing the standard output 6.7L Cummins in MPG. My truck does have the 6.7L S.O. Cummins with 4.10 gears and 14K GVW.How many miles? I was saying the same thing up until about 15k, numbers are actually getting decent for what I'm doing now. At 8.5 mpg and 31 gallon tank..... well.... you can do math. Estimate 200.What are you guys typically seeing for fuel range?
The 4.10 gears are putting you to high in the rpm anything below 2 grand is good after 2000 fuel disappears fast, unless i was towing 25K+ regularly i would avoid 4.10s unless you throw some 35s on to get that rpm downMy truck does have the 6.7L S.O. Cummins with 4.10 gears and 14K GVW.
I had 2,200 miles on the truck when we left for Myrtle Beach. I'm just about to crack 4,000 miles this evening. I'll be doing a 7 hour round trip to pick up a 2013 Nissan Frontier that stuck a connecting rod out the oil pan on Sunday. I'll be pulling a 22' Iron Bull equipment trailer to do the hauling.
No need. Trailer and truck sit almost level and the ride is great. Are you guys using airbags on these coil spring 2500s pulling 5ers?
