I towed our 40' 5th wheel toy hauler with a 2017 Ram 3500 Crew short box before it totaled. Truck towed and handled great.

No issues towing my 40ft. this pic is with a BW slider hitch. Never had to use the slider function. I currently have a Gen-Y Gooseneck hitch using a 4" offset ball. Both work(ed) flawlessly.

This is VERY dependent on the trailer design!

The front cap design will play a BIG part in this. I had a Keystone Cougar, worked great with a short bed / fixed hitch.
Went to a Solitude, wide body trailer, and while it "works", I had an issue with a campground we often visit and needed to get an autoslider to provide the additional room needed.
Tight turn into the place with a downward slope. Bad combination.

I might've looked at going to a B&W turnover set-up with the 4" offset ball. Update the trailer to a Reese Goosebox and all might be good!

Towing a 5ver is a better experience, IMO than a TT. I'd never go back to a TT.
