My 3500 rode ok from the factory but after the first month of ownership I put a set of 2 way adjustable Fox Race shocks on the front. In the mountains and on back roads, the thing is so much more composed and rides so well.
I can hit huge dips at high speed and large pot holes at 40 while being comfortable and maintaining full control of the truck.
I can go over stuff in 4wheel hi that I would need to go into 4low and lock the rear on my 5th gen 4runner.

The 3500 will allow room for growth in many ways. Put good suspension on an 3500 and never worry about the trucks capability or comfort again.

I have a 21 dually. When not towing I air down to 65/30 front/back using the load inflation table recommendations. I have had several people comment on how good the ride is. I have rode in a couple of 2500s and can't say the ride was any better. The bigger question is what you are planning on using the truck for? At one time Chyrsler published tire pressures for both loaded and unloaded situations. I am sure some lawyer recommended that they only put the loaded pressures in the door because some dummy didn't air up the tires and rolled his truck while hauling two tons of gravel.

Eeeeehhhhhhh.

I also have a 21 dually. I also air down my tires to what you list above in your post when not towing.

Ive also owned a coil spring 2016 cummins 2500. That truck's ride quality was FAR superior to my newer DRW truck.

If you plan to load a slide-in truck camper into the bed go with the 3500 for the rear leaf springs or it'll feel like you're driving a bowl of jelly in a 2500 w/stock rear coil springs.

Does the TPMS trip when you go down to 30psi? I ask as I have a 2500 and am looking at going to a 3500 dually,

Whats the ride difference between the 2500 and 3500?
noticeably stiffer. just swapped my 2019 2500 for a 2022 3500 due to payload needs. in wife's first ride she commented on it “riding rougher than the old truck”. once it’s loaded down there isn’t much difference though.

Lower tire pressures when not towing and air assist make for a better ride. Good as the 2500? Not likely, but mine is WAY better than my 04.5 2500 ever was.

There's certainly a trade off for payload and that's hard to avoid.

For those looking to spend money on suspension upgrades, one can achieve a pretty nice ride from the 3500 trucks.

My auto-level 3500's have ridden better than any 2500 I've ridden in, and even a 1500 rental I had (could have been from rental abuse).

Thanks, great to hear this from folks that actually own both. That's what I found too when I test drove some 3500's with factory air. I was ordering a 22 and thought I might want to step up to the 3500 to "future proof". I was driving an 18 2500 CTD with factory air suspension at the time and it is a very noticeable difference. I ordered a 2500. But if I'd needed the extra capacities, I'd have for sure lived with the harsher suspension in a 3500.
