I recently traded my 17 f350 CC DRW for a 20 MC DRW HO LongHorn. In fact ive only got about 300 miles on the new truck.

Since I picked the truck up from the out of state dealer it has a "clunk" in the right front when the RF wheel drops off a small bump. I can recreate it daily pulling out of the convenience store on to the street. There is a smallish (3in or less) drop from the parking lots concrete to the asphalt of the road. This happen with a slight turn of the wheel to the right, it may do it straight as well, havent really had the time to commit to attempting different conditions.

The clunk is heard on the right side front floor/firewall area, thought it may have been a cab mount bushing, but those all appear to be tight.

Has anyone else experienced this, if so what was the cure? Id like to just handle it myself if its something that just needed tightened up or moved, as getting to the dealer is a bit of an issue.

Thanks!

I get a ‘KUH-CLUNK-POP’ Going over railroad tracks, whoops and even uneven road grades. Sound comes from under the bed, It’s extreme and sounds like damage is being inflicted. This is at moderate speeds, not Dukes of Hazard crap. As far as I can tell all is snug and tight.
My Ford long bed dually does no such thing nor has any other truck I’ve owned/driven.

Thanks for the input, This is definitely in the right front corner of my truck. Can hear in the floor/firewall area passenger side.

Ill try to get a vid later today.

Unfortunately there could be a lot of components that make a similar sound up into the same area. Loose shock mount, loose sway bar/end link, loose body mount, control arm bushing, etc..

My ‘19 3500 has 5100 miles on it and has been making that noise since around 2000 miles. It mainly makes the noise when turning, but also does when the front axle drops a few inches as well..I have had it to the dealer twice for the noise, and they have said both times that they could not duplicate it. The problem is, I requested that they drive the truck, but both times the mileage on the truck leaving the dealer was the same as when I dropped it off. They barely drove it around the parking lot. They put it on the lift, said everything was tightened to specs. I finally got underneath and had my wife turn the wheels back and forth while holding on to the drag link. I could feel the pop as well as hear it. I am going to take it back to the dealer for a third time, request a different service person to deal with , and request that I drive it with them in to hear and feel it. It just needs to get fixed..

Mine only seems to do it when the wheel drops off. Im actually going to pull it in now and take a better look. Id put around the parking lot of that dealership and find an area where you can recreate it, then take the service writer/tech out there and do it for them, Then they cant say they didnt hear it.

I’ve seen folks say it’s a body mount that needs to be replaced. Mine does it too. It’s done it since the day I got it home (about a month old now). This is an older TSB about it. I’m not sure if there is a newer one out, as they obviously haven’t fixed the problem. Mine has a Sept 2020 build date.

I believe mine is 9/20 also. Have you had yours in or inquired about service yet?

I haven’t taken mine in yet or asked about it. It’s my daily driver and I have no other vehicle so taking it in is a bit of a hassle for me. I may ask about it in the next couple weeks though and see what they say.

Same here on both fronts.

Hello @pwrhws and @DownShiftz
I certainly understand how this noise may be concerning. If at any point you decide to address this with your Ram dealer, our team is just a private message away and more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process.

I’m having the exact same issue with my 2020 2500 Tradesman 4x4 on the right front.

Just started noticing this on my 19 2500 MC (both sides but more frequently from passenger footwell). Need to find a dealership and confirm I can replicate it on demand in their lot.

My 2019 2500 C/C does it from both front. Pretty sure it's the A- pillar cab mounts. I think there's a TSB on them. Rear cab mounts also clunk. Pretty sure Ram just released a TSB on those as well. Have to stop by the dealership to confirm. Forget about trying to call them. Calling the dealership is like trying to get a feral cat to respond to it's name!

Judt traded in my 17 3500 dually. Trans rebuild at 75k. Engine light going on every few months. I had to change the front right tire 4 times in a year. They couldn't find anything wrong. Had to cut my losses.

Just picked up my 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel fresh off the train on 10/27. Hit a low patch in the road a couple houses before mine and got the same clunk first time and every time I hit since. Ran that same patch over for over two years with my 2017 Ram 2500 Diesel and never got that clunk in the right front. Checked the body mounts on that side, all seem tight. It’s so annoying, would love to hear a fix for it.
