Hello,

I tried installing a steering gear box stabilizer from ( http://www.dodgeramsteeringstabilizer.com ) today. The truck did not have a washer on the pitman arm nut nor did the kit include one. The new pitman arm nut is too small to be installed without a washer. Has anyone installed a similar brace and needed a nut, did your truck come with one?

Truck is a 2019 3500 drw gas 4x4.

Thank you,
Nick

I’m new to ram trucks but do not feel it’s sloppy. My truck is stock. Is your truck lifted or leveled? I have had this problem in the past when I have leveled one or lifted.

Otherwise stock truck. Steering is pretty sloppy to me. I cam from a 2014 2500. There is a fair amount of play in the steering wheel and when going over rough roads the truck feels bad for brand new. I decided to try the brace and an aftermarket steering stabilizer. Hopefully that will make it better.

It's the downside of a dually. The difference in track width front to rear means they are running in different "ruts" in the road. This make the truck sorta pivot longitudinally or "roll", so to speak, and the steer axle reacts to it. If you have ever ridden a motorcycle trike, they have the exact same issue, and the bars will wag in reaction to it.

Never heard or thought of that explanation but it makes perfect sense. Thank you. Hopefully the items ordered will help some.

Of course. I will be making rounds at all of the hardware and auto parts stores tomorrow for the 30-31mm id lock washer.

Note: other brand kits may come with a washer and your truck may have one. My pitmam arm nut was a different size than the instructions claimed. I dont know if there would be a difference in gas vs diesel. But mine was 1-11/16” actual vs 1-13/16 claimed. The 1-11/16 was slightly loose so it may be metric.

Note 2: Mine was also so tight it never was able to be loosened by hand, impact the whole way. No it wasn’t cross threaded.

Local Ace hardware had a washer that fit. 1-1/4” which was about a millimeter oversized. Drove a few miles and nothing moved. Will run more errands later and then taking a 500 mile round trip tomorrow if things look good.
