We have a 2019 RAM 3500 Limited and it was purchased at the end of summer of 2020 when the weather was warm. As it has gotten cold in the winter, when I start the pickup to warm up, the screen is unresponsive for about 15 mins until the pickup warms up. The screen is on and everything looks fine but when you touch it, it is unresponsive.

How cold is cold? We were at -22, -35 wind chill, and mine still worked.

I had an unresponsive 12" screen the other day. Upon start-up, the screen was blank but it lit up when I hit the button on the volume knob. Everything looked good but the touchscreen was completely unresponsive. Turned off the engine and restarted it and the touchscreen was still unresponsive. Turned it off again but this time waited for a minute and then restarted and everything worked again with no further problems since. I think the screen had been turned off when I turned off the truck but I'm not sure. Next time I remember, I'll see if I can duplicate it by turning the screen off before shutting down the engine.

About those temps here too. The screen wouldn’t work until the pickup was running for about 45 mins or really warmed up. Regardless the truck was traded off a couple weeks ago lol.

Currently having issues with my 12.1 screen display. System plays sound but display comes in and out. I’ve went to my local dealership and they state there’s nothing they can do. I have a 2022 Ram 2500 with just over 1500 miles. Can some one help with this issue.

I am having the exact same problem in my 2019 RAM 2500. Today it took over 30 minutes to warm up - our temperature is 28 degrees.

Hi,

I have this exact same problem. Everything about the screen functions as it should except the touch until the truck warms up. I have had it to the dealer multiple times over the past few years and still no luck getting it fixed. It is getting very frustrating.

A service advisor told me the early 12” screens had a lot of issues. Seems like it’s not an issue with 2021+ models though

Hi,

I have had the odd issue, black screen on start up and no reverse cam but those always clear up with a re-start. I had a great visit to the dealer yesterday. It was cold enough in the service bay that the screen never began working. They tried everything they could think of but nothing solved the problem. A replacement screen is finally on order.

Thanks,
Corbin

Nevermind, just got a call I have to bring it in so they can try more things that likely will not work. The frustration continues.

WEll...It is 46 degrees today and my screen still does not respond to touch until the cab gets up to temp, about 72 degrees. This is getting very trying. About ready to give up. Two years of this crap, with no help.

I feel your pain. I dont see how this is so hard for the dealer to fix. I had my truck in again and as expected everything they wanted to try did not work. A new screen is finally on order. Hopefully this concludes 3 years of frustration.
