Having discovered now I can use my fob to release my tailgate I’m entertaining the idea of adding the interior button. I found my overhead console has a plug with a dummy connector plugged in, meaning it does nothing. I’m wondering if this is where the buttons would be plugged in if my truck had them. I’ve added pictures to show the dummy plug that I found changing my map lights.

If anyone could post what theirs looks like I’d appreciate it. I’ve seen a couple others but having trouble finding good images. I do not have a sliding rear window but don’t mind having the button doing nothing.

Is your button for the tailgate release up on your overhead console?

my 2019 has the “basic” overhead console (non-LED). My truck did come with remote tailgate , but it’s only got the tailgate release button on the remote. The overhead console only has the switch for the Power rear window. I’m curious if I get the switch set that has the tailgate release it it’s plug and play.

Yes and no, I've been wondering the same thing. Is there a version of the overhead console that has just the tailgate release button but not the sliding rear window or the red or blue buttons.

There is no such overhead console that has the release switch but not the slider switch.

The wiring for the release is not in the connector right? Thats just for the window switch? I have not looked in mine yet to see

The connector for the window switch is only for the switch itself. If you have the base overhead console like pictured below, you will not have the correct connector or linbus wire to plug into the overhead console that has a tailgate release switch- A0C9C618-EFC2-4AF4-A2AA-5D6BE0242757.jpeg

If you already have a premium style overhead console, it will be a direct swap to one that has the release switch. If you have a base console, you’ll need a custom add-on harness to be able to swap in a premium one.

Know anyone who is willing to make the custom harness?
Depending on connector parts availability, I can do it. If there are minimum order quantities on any of the parts, there would have to be more interest. I’ll look into it.

Asuming this is the base version1990B067-1FD1-4897-9385-00D945C7DB78.jpeg

I've almost absent mindlessly hit that tailgate release by mistake when trying to open or close the rear window. Not good if backed into a parking spot and someone has parked behind you. Oops.... Be careful what you wish for. LOL
