2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Like I mentioned earlier I would much rather support & stay local and if it was within $1k or so I would have but there is no way in hell I'm forking over an extra $9-10k because local dealers are absurdly greedy. I have a very big disdain for car dealers and despise the whole experience when it comes to buying a car. And then to see a local person coming on requesting people to give them a shot and still not wanting to deal, why bother??
Couldn’t agree more. I’m in sales (construction) and I have a hardcore disdain for car salesman, the majority of them. There’s a couple of decent ones around here I know personally but they flat out told me it was out of their hands and the dealership wouldn’t let them negotiate. Their loss, I’ll make it a fishing weekend in LA.

To be fair, I would have ordered from Chapman at 2% under invoice and avoided having to worry about getting the truck from Louisiana.

If any of the locals were more willing to deal under invoice I'd be up for it too. One of the several people I know at the dealership is friends with the owner of the dealership and the best deal they would give me was to match an invoice + $1k offer that I had out of town but that was still too high and it got worse once they added in all of their bull$hit add ons.

I am in sales & service as well and have met a lot of scummy sales people over the years but damn near every time you walk into a dealer you instantly see several cars sales people that are far worse than other industries.

It's sad because next to your home a vehicle purchase is usually the next largest investment of money into something and you would think that they (the dealers) would want to make it a much easier, hassle & headach free purchase. You should be able to walk into a dealer, say that's the car I want, see a price tag on it, like an item from any other retail store you go to and not need to negotiate for the next 6-8hrs over pricing, monthly payment, interest, financing in house vs your own, buy the car and leave with it 2 hours later. Nope every single thing about the transaction has to be battle for and negotiated.

So after saying all of that and you're reading this Sandi, thank you very much for being so awesome to deal with!! She is a true example of how the business model of how a quick & painless car sale should be. I would buy a new car more often if every transaction goes like this one is so far.

Did Chapman even offer that? My first quote from Andrea here on this forum (Chapman Scottsdale) was 1% under invoice (i.e. FFA pricing) and I made a counter that hasn’t been responded to yet. 1% under invoice versus 5% under invoice at Mark Dodge is a lot of money. I’m in AZ too and expect it would be about $1100 to ship, $300 each way to drive (plus hotels). That’s not insignificant, but for me it’s a big difference from trying to buy locally. I mentioned to Andrea that I’d love to stay local - service, support, long-term relationships, etc etc - but haven’t heard back.

I did think about this, but the 12 pin connector is totally separate if I'm correct and is used for the Trailer Surround cameras which are analog feeds to the Uconnect screen. I think the Trailer Tow offering has different connections that go directly to the rear view mirror. Hard to say until someone gets one of these.

At least, this is what I gathered reading some previous posts by @Jimmy07
The mirror will definitely have two coax cable connectors for switching between the two cameras, and the truck will need to be prepped with the tow mode camera coax going to the bumper. I discovered the PCB for the 2021 digital mirror is actually prepped for the tow mode camera- B79BE897-E757-40FB-B9A2-DA3755154587.jpeg
The question is, is the tow mode camera coax cable automatically run back to the bumper or rear facia harness when equipped with the digital mirror regardless of whether the two mode camera is optioned. Then, getting the connection to the trailer- not that Ram hasn’t done some mind boggling things before, but it would be a head scratcher if they didn’t utilize the 12-way connector. That would be a third trailer to truck connection if equipped with trailer surround view and tow mode rear mirror camera. I’m sure they’ve had all the pins on the 12-way designated since they first put it in use, and the way I would think the designations are is:
Aux camera 1 is three wires for the camera output, which also doubles as the trailer surround view CVPM output when equipped.
Aux camera 2 is three wires for the camera output.
The trailer surround CVPM will also use four other pins- power, ground, and canbus IHS HI/LO, with power and ground pin locations doubling as the power and ground for the two aux cameras.
Then the remaining two positions for the digital tow mode camera signal and shield broken out of the coax cable.
At least, that’s my best guess, but we’ll have to wait and see.

I actually spoke with Andrea and she said there was no way they could match that deal too.

Knowing that you're from AZ and I'm sure we likely aren't the only two, I wonder would the possibility would be to have 2 or 3 trucks all shipped at one time to one destination for a group type rate? It would all come down to timing of course, meaning they all show up to Mark within a reasonable time frame of each other.

They never said 2 under… but yeah the 3.5% extra would be 2,800 on my truck. maybe 3% under would have been my number… no idea since no one was willing to work on pricing. Avondale was invoice + $1000 and wouldn’t take any codes. It would be nice to deal locally in case there were issues, but that discount in LA is WAAAAY too good!

That’s what I was thinking about too. If 5-6 of us (and people in CA) could just take up one big transport and get a deal with the company. Maybe something Aaron/Sandi can check on? I had a couple estimates from $800-1300 for transport to Goodyear.

Sandi said as we get closer that she would reach out about transport of the trucks. I thought about flying out and driving it back but if it shows up when I'm thinking it will, my guess is late Oct, early Nov which puts me in last minute mode to get my car done for the Sema show. If it shows up around that time frame there is no way I can take a few days off to fly out and drive the car back so I'll either have to have them ship it or buy a buddy a plane ticket and he said he'd drive it back for me (former OTR driver) if I cover his flight, gas and a couple hundred $'s for his time.

I live in Sun City and am about 10 min away from the rail yard,I can't say that I recall seeing big trucks on a transporter but I'm not 100% sure. I do know I saw three F150's on a long 3 car hauler about a month ago and that's what I was thinking we could ships our trucks with.

Either way, I'm up for exploring my options about shipping.

My salesman was guessing end of August to beginning of september

That’s what I’m hoping too. They’re knocking some of them out in 45 days right now (wrapping up 2021). I wouldn’t mind seeing it in early to mid-September.

I’m in Goodyear, so not far.

I’m definitely in for this. I would much prefer to just fly to AZ and drive home.

I just don't understand the unwillingness to negotiate on orders from some dealers. A truck that isn't on their lot... The dealerships I called or walked in to talk to that told me MSRP only, lost me as a customer for life. If they are afraid of people bailing, the dealerships that don't have the money that the others have could at the very least tell them the deposit is nonrefundable if I get you this deal.... At least attempt some form of negotiation.....

After finally finding a good dealer, I told me wife when we are ready to buy her Trackhawk, we know which dealership we are going back to.... The one who gave me the great deal on our truck!! To all you MSRP only dealerships out there, you guys are DUMB!

Pretty frustrating huh? I guess if they have people willing to pay MSRP & above they will continue to ask for it.

Well that would be pretty awesome but I don't see it happening that fast, I'm thinking late September at best. I wonder what amount of 21's got converted to 22's, safe to assume they will get built first then on to the new orders

This is what I do at my local dealership....unless I can get a better deal. I use my tread lightly membership ($100 individual membership, make sure your dealership participates in this program...FCA Affiliate's program). Then get your membership letter must be a member for at least 30 days upon delivery of an FCA (Stellantis) vehicle. You will get the FFP price or 1% below invoice and you can still get any additional rebates for the vehicle. I've used it many times except when I got a better deal without it.

You do have to wonder how they can sell trucks for basically EP prices,A big dealer here in Michigan just got busted for a multi million dollar EP scam,EP for everybody by one salesman.

As far as I know, they aren’t selling at EP. they’re actually giving the holdback to the customer I think.

One of forum members put his quote on here last week I believe. List was $86495-Invoice was $80622 less holdback which was $2545=$78077. He said they quoted him $76886. That is basically Employee pricing? Showed it to local dealer principal who i know quite well and he said no way. Brought up the Michigan dealer who had sales guy cheating who got caught this spring.

With the numbers that Mark and Bud Clary were turning out, I assume it’s all on the up-and-up. Ram would have busted them long ago.
