Been doing a lot of research across the HD 3500’s, including Ford’s too, only the 7.3 variant however, but still not sold on that 10spd action.
Had pretty much decided was going to go with gas for simplicity, but now having serious second thoughts to just go with a SO Cummins and be done with it since we live around 5k elevation and pull through the mtns here in the West and this is for just a 5er puller (9-15k), not a DD, despite the fact I can’t stand the extra emission complexities and some nuisances (idling and shorter trips not ideal), and yes a few more bucks up front. Plus, when you have a 12v, you appreciate torque and the mileage over longer distances.
Either way, as far as a few specifics go, had a few questions some of you might know more about.
1: The TSB for fixing the A/C to be colder on the ‘21’s, seems like some mixed results, some still complaining, etc. Do we know for any certainty that the ‘22s will have this fixed for good, or still strong chance the AC system could be a weaker performer compared to the competition. I simply will not own a vehicle with subpar A/C. My better half will kill me.
2: CP3 pump will remain on the 22’s?
3: Chances Ram will up power output on the Hemi in ’22 or ’23 and or come up with a larger displacement Hemi in ’23, based off similar design currently? No one wants to be a guinea pig.
4: When Ram puts the 5th gen cab on in ’23 or whatever, are we talking wider seats too you think, or same size seating and just a slightly wider interior aspects? Super comfortable seats are critical for us.
5: Can you really get the tailgate release function on the key fobs if you specify this when you order, on the Big Horns that is?
6: When ordering, can the dealer upgrade Big Horn wheels to the Limited Longhorn’s wheels? Not a fan of the Laramie upgrade wheels whatsoever.
Thanks all…
For Ram, looking only at Big Horn and Limited Longhorns trims, either SO Cummins\Hemi. The Laramie interior options, not loving that as much.
