Trailer surround new for 2022

Interesting that it says it supports "box trailers up to 53' length". I wonder if there will be restrictions on 5W and GN similar to the tag cross stuff.

Not the same thing as BSM for the trailers. That's a limitation of the radars being blocked.

The 53' limit for the surround camera would be for any box or 5th trailer and would be an issue of the capability of the image stitching software and/or cables included.

Nice. That's at least a good "new" capability.

They should have an extra asterisk on there that says "Chip Availability Permitting."

I'm really hope they addressed the poor trailer camera video quality that I hear everyone complain about

53’ is max legal single trailer length in most places....

The cables are about 65' total length (20m for y'all way north) and you have to centrally located the module on the trailer to reach all 4 camera locations - front, rear, left and right.

Hopefully, it's a nice system.

That's novel but I'd probably only use the backup cam. I don't trust my 360 overhead as it is. Maybe if you could make the overhead full screen. It's like looking at a small cellphone screen when looking at it on the 8.4, with that giant "SURROUND VIEW / REAR VIEW" header (BTW, thanks, couldn't figure that out  ) and the rear view crammed next to it.

Agreed. Maybe UC5 will take advantage of the full screen and hide distracting overlays. Would be really nice full screen on the 12”.

This might be a “must have” for me when I order my 23. I’d like to see it in action though.

I kind of agree on this. I appreciate the 360 cam on the RAMs but I also have 360 cam on my wife’s 2015 Discovery Sport. Land Rover took the camera game seriously even back then. Today, LR’s cams are tech from aliens. :) The views in the Disco are more varied and much more useful. (For instance, it offers close up image of all 4 wheels if you want… in split screen) You can operate them at any speed, at any time YOU CHOOSE and they do not cancel. The 360 Birdseye is also much more clear and does not have the striped “warning” area around the outline of the image of the vehicle. Anyway, it’s very of knit picky to gripe about these cams as we are lucky to have these features on our trucks. I used my Power Wagon’s cameras often, especially when off roading and towing but yes, the cameras could be even better if they chose to do so.

I was originally planning on custom ordering my Power Wagon, and I was not planning to order it with the “towing technology package” (360 camera, mirror mounted aux lights, and blind spot monitor).
I ended up buying a truck that the dealer had which included “towing tech package”...now that I’ve experienced it, I am extremely glad it has it. The cameras are invaluable offroad, especially with the huge hood on this truck.

All I need is bluetooth capable camera, that you can attach to the rear of the trailer. Just recently I was backing up my new Pontoon boat aligning with the curtesy dock, when I hear crunch. Because the water level dropped on Lake Mead, the caution sign was out of alignment with the center of the dock, and when I pulled strait to back in, it was hidden by the boat. It was my fault for not realizing it was there, when I did a U turn and pulled forward. Luckily no damage to boat or trailer. ;)
