AlfaOBD

many thanks to Jimmy and others that have contributed to this thread. I would like to add my personal experience as well. Coming from a 2015 Ram 1500 DS body, I had the ZFlash installed for first responders and firefighter.
Going to the 2020 Ram 2500 DJ, I had to order a bypass. This bypass from www.ultrabrightlightz.com has a single 2 pin cable for the star connector and 2 OBD ports as well as the female to plug into the factory OBD.
It is successful with the AlfaOBD as well. I programmed new LED headlamps using steps found on the forum. I also left it plugged in when it failed to program a new fob; without thinking i plugged in Chryslers Micropod and proceeded to program the new FOB. no issues found at this time with leaving it plugged in, and now I have a remote start/ tailgate release fob for my Tradesman....

Thanks again guys!

Is this like a Tazer that has to remain plugged in all the time for the FOBIK to work? We've all been told that only a dealer with an active WiTech connection to FCA can program a new FOBIK due to a handshake/rolling code.

The micropod is the dealer wiTECH dongle.

no, nothing has to be plugged in for the fobik to keep working. i apologize if i gave that impression... I just meant that i left the bypass plugged in when i plugged in the Micropod

I saw that, but I thought it needed to be "online" with FCA to code a remote. Confused.
A regular user can get subscriptions for different amounts of time and tokens, just like techauthority, and do their own fob programming and TSB updates.

Ya don't say. Us mere mortals can really F something up now.

Guessing $$$ not worth it?

Definitely highly impractical just to be able to do one particular thing with. I believe you need a wiTECH software license, techauthority subscription, VIN tokens, and the micropod II. The micropod has to be registered to be able to perform flashes to the vehicle, so I’m not sure if there is a workaround for the micropod clones.

Can someone with a Kaodtech security module bypass cable do me a favor and take a close up picture of the small connectors? the locking tabs you press down on to release are broken and I have one stuck. I'm hoping I can stick a small micro screwdriver in to press the lock down to get the connector out but I'm not sure which side the locking tab is on. Thanks.

If you're expecting it to just come on, it won't.

You need to go into the EVIC screen setup and scroll through the options. It adds a new option for Current Gear along with the Odometer/Center/Left/Right/corners gauge selections.

@Brutal_HO, that is the info I was missing. I had used alfaobd to turn on the current gear. But it never showed up. Seeing this post, I went into the EVIC screen and enabled it there. Low and behold, it now shows the current gear. Thank you sir.

So my fully loaded 2019 PW did not have Tire Fill Assist or Selectable Tire Fill Alert as an option in uConnect for some odd reason. I enabled the below and after a day or so of driving it has popped up in my uConnect and appears to be working, but I haven't played with it too much.

VehConfig 8:
Tire Fill Alert present
Selectable Tire Fill Alert Present

Cust.Set.Menu 3:
Tire Fill Alert Enable/Disable CSM Present

In trying to solve the trail camera enabled but not working issue on anything but a PW, would you mind sharing your config file? I'm thinking they might have changed something in the newer MY's that we need to incorporate.

I hope you find something but there are several 2500 trucks that have enabled this that are not PW.

Great point. If anyone that has this working, particularly in '20 and '21 MY can post their config files, I'll see if anything jumps out.

I have a 2019 2500 tradesman. On my Uconnect screen I have the app for selecting tire fill alert, but it is grayed out and cannot be selected...

Can the app be activated with AlphaOBD? And do you have to have the security bypass module to make TPMS related changes?

Go to the settings in the radio and check on the tire fill alert.

Thanks! That worked, however after setting the tire pressure setting lower it did not clear the TPMS code on my gauge cluster. I tried turning the truck off and re-starting it and the code was still there. Oddly enough after I turned the truck off, and then on again the tpms app in the Uconnect ways grayed out again; as if the changes I made weren't saved or something...

Tire Fill alert only works with the truck running and cancels out.

Did you drive it for a bit after making the change?

Did the lower pressure settings "stick" in the settings?

No, it was in park the whole time. I was messing with it in my driveway. But if it cancels out every time I restart than I don't think Uconnect will help me with my main annoyance. Which is that the TPMS screen defaults on the gauge cluster every time I start the truck, (I have my tires about 10psi under for ride quality).. Would I need to go the AlphaOBD rout to permanently reconfigure the pressure threshold?

Thanks!

Some have apparently (I've not seen real proof) been able to set the threshold lower using the Tire fill alert settings.

A permanent* changes requires AlfaOBD or similar that can change the setting in the BCM.

* Changes are reset if the dealer flashes the BCM.

I haven't done it yet but I think like Brutal said, you have to have a clear TPMS light before the SFA changes take effect. If you try to set them with the light on it will not stick when you turn off your truck. So, air up to 65 PSI (or whatever yours calls for) to clear the light, then adjust SFA. Turn off/on to see if your changes stuck.
