Good morning all......After long arduous research, i am replacing the OEM Firestones with the Cooper Discover XLT AT3's in (maybe) stock size 275/70-18, but my question is........i would like to go a little bigger but not extreme. It is NOT raised nor will it be raised, i would just like a little larger diameter and wider.......would you guys give me some size suggestions please?

Thank you all.

Ray

285/75-18, it's 34.8" tall, and fills the factory height wheel wells a lot better w/o any rubbing or BS. However they do still look a little small for the truck IMO.

In the picture, they definitely do not look too small. Too big actually. Do you plan to level it or install a small lift?

You like the ride goofy and are they coopers?

These are Falken Wildpeak At3W, and I absolutely love them, and I got them from Amazon prime for $232 a tire + $8 a tire for local install.

In person they look smaller, no need to do a leveling kit unless I want to go up to 37's.

I’ve had 3 sets of cooper at3 xlt. Not on a hd truck but on my previous tundras. 2 sets of 275/70r18 and one set of 285/75r18. Never had any issues with the tires, got over 50k miles out of each set and they rode smooth and quiet until they got under 1/16 of tread. Great tires and I’ll likely be putting them on my new 2500 when it’s time.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT 295/70-18. All stock other than tires. I like them after about 2500 miles.

I really like the way your truck looks. And I believe that size will go right on the 8" wide stock wheels. But ignoring looks for a minute, a couple of questions.

Does anyone think that the taller tire with more sidewall will have any noticeable impact on handling? Especially when towing?

2nd question is does the added almost 1" of width really cause more gravel to hit the side of the truck like some claim?

If either of those two things are a factor, I am fine going with the 275/70-18. I just like the way the 295s look but don't want any adverse impact on handling, towing or debris flinging. Probably can't have it both ways?

You won't notice any difference in handling with that swap. I went from the stock 18" wheels to a 35x12.50R17 and didn't notice a difference towing my fifth wheel. If you are concerned with gravel fender flares solves that.

I never drove mine on stock tires so can't compare. They're less than 1/2" farther out than 275s. (Other 1/2" is inboard) The more aggressive tread may throw some more gravel but doubt that 1/2" makes much difference.
