Picking up mine tomorrow...Phil was not there yesterday and had one of his people working up my financing. Credit score is 817, Phil says no problem he can get in the 2s. His guy yesterday came up with a 5%. Told him that won't cut it. Phil immediately called and said don't worry about it, not a problem he'll handle it. Haven't heard from him yet today but it's early out there. Hope this isn't a sign of how this is going to go tomorrow.

Definitely let us know how it goes. I'll be there in a few weeks. He told me the same thing about the 2's.

I talked to him yesterday regarding an update on my truck's whereabouts and youre right, he wasnt there. If i was on site closing the deal, I'd lose my mind on some poor young salesman if he presented me with something different than what ive been sold on up to this point.

So you are saying I need to hit up Phil?

You sure should! let us know what happens

I think the key takeaway here is get your own financing in place prior to going, regardless. Worst case, you use what you have. Best case they beat it.

The credit ding you'll receive is the same regardless of if you get one pull or twenty. May as well spend an hour or two getting offers, for peace of mind if nothing less.

Good point, but for me at least, the concern is will they not honor the quoted sale price if you dont take their financing? That's in the back of my mind.

I mean, I can't make any promises, but no that absolutely should not happen. The price you negitoated to, and the financing should be entirely different "deals". They can sometimes influence each other, as lowering the price further to go through their financing or something - but unless otherwise stated you can finance through whoever you want.

Hell, you could walk in there to pick it up with 60,000 dollar bills and pay on the spot and do no financing at all.

I dont disagree at all in that "should" be how it is. Ive had plenty of dealers over the years try some wonky crap. I cant count how many new vehicles we've bought. They tried some moronic crap.

I do not get the feeling that's how Phillip is, but @Newtocummins2021 experience yesterday has me on defense for sure.

After several hours of wasted time I got the $1k off. But they didn’t do the truecar coupon or the first responder discount. At that point I was just sick of being there. Plus they ha e me a terrible interest rate on the truck.
Setting up the deal with Phil was awesome and super easy. When I arrived, Phil wasn’t there and I dealt with one of his minions. It took 5 hours to complete the process. Seems excessive when the price has already been agreed to. Then when with the “finance guy” I had to keep correcting his numbers as his were wrong several times. Also, their prices for the “extras” were ridiculous and their interest rate sucked balls.
While the price was good, bring your own financing or cash. Don’t bother with theirs.
Phil stated he could get me the “best rate on the planet.” What

Agree about the financing - but here's the sticky part. If you are using a different lender and are going to pickup the truck, they're going to want the check at the time you pick it up - so you have to have that in hand. In other words, you would of already pulled the trigger on a loan someplace else, or else you wouldn't have the live check. Based on Newtocummins21's experience I'm going to push the financing issue with Phil sooner than later and try not to have that become a day of pickup event.

This isn't true everywhere. I bought my 2020 2500 with financing through USAA. Showed up with a print-out of instructions the dealer needed to follow in order to get their payment. If the dealer doesn't follow the instructions/I never give to the dealer then the loan never originates.

Ok fellas. Not sure if any of you are USAA members, but i just got preapproved for a 75 mo loan at 2.69%. The approval is good for 45 days and was very, very easy to set up online.

Worse case scenario, ill walk in with my USAA paperwork and close the deal with the USAA loan if they want to play games when it comes time to finance.

I recommend you go onto the USAA website and get yourself approved if you are buying in the next few weeks.

Good to know, last year I used USAA for a pre approval before buying my 1500 and had a 2.7% with very good credit but the dealer beat it with 1.9%. I’ll definitely see what USAA will approve me at. Thanks

It appears the lowest rates they are offering right now are 2.19 for 12-63 months, 2.49 for 72 months, 2.69 for 75 months, or 3.89 for 84 months.

Im certain a rate under 2% is out there today somewhere, but USAA was easy and im already a member so 2.69 is what ill use as a target when my time comes to fly up to WA.

If Phillip can beat it, even better!

Just went on USAA. Forgot I had an account.
$70K. 3.5% for 84 months with auto pay.

Now to see if my credit union can match that.
Probably only need about 55 to 60 K Trying to sell my truck and car now so I have a good down payment.

I've never had the dealer not beat my rate, but I'm assuming the banks have it all covered. Regardless, my last chat with the dealer we decided to start aligning everything next Friday, with the assumption the truck will arrive the Friday after.

I believe this is all to avoid any in person chaos.

My plan in WA is to show up, sign, and walk. Everything will be 100% finalized before I get on the plane.

have a family member who was? Wife/husband? parents? InLaw parents? kids?

It's amazing how Amazon can track a $10.00 package, but Ram cannot track a $90k truck. Anyone else think that Ram Chat is useless?

Every time I end ram chat, I take the survey. I always comment that with technology and spending $60,000, it would be a better experience if you were able to track easier. Also tell them they need to let their agents give out more information than canned responses

Unfortunately you can’t do that at Bud clary as they don’t accept cash. Keep that in mind as I brought cash for my down payment. Luckily I also brought a check just in case. Ridiculous they don’t take American currency as an American business.
