Hi guys. I posted this in the wrong forum yesterday...

New to the forums but not new to Ram.

I'm building a 4500 CC (SLT). The FCA 2021 buyer's guide shows 12 colors available. A 2021 Press Kit shows low volume colors also available. But the public ram build site shows only eight colors available. I was wondering if anyone has heard any recent news that Ram has reduced color availability on CC.

Related - my sales rep tells me Omaha Orange isn't available on 3500 pickup (Big Horn) but the build site shows that it still is. Curious about that too.

The guys at the 1500 forums point out that low volume colors may only be available on tradesmen with the chassis cab, but even still SLT on the site is only showing eight colors, which doesn't include all the normal colors.

My sales rep seems confused by this and can't tell me which colors are actually available on my build and says "Ram is updating their color availability every day."

I ask all this because I'm lettering the truck with our logo so color matching is semi-important.

Sounds like the sales rep should make some calls and do his job to find out

I got a low volume color on my 2019 tradesman 2500. PX8 black. Dealer key tag just called it “low volume black” but it was maybe $150 option. I hope my topper matches.

Thats all I can contribute here

You might want to examine the Trim Level (SLT) you have chosen. "The low-production colors are available on Tradesman, Tradesman Power Wagon, and Big Horn/Lone Star packages (not available on Big Horn/Lone Star Sport)."

Check a lower level and see if the configurator doesn't enable the Omaha Orange color choice.

Yeah man. You'd think I'd ask him to paint the truck himself.

In the end it turns out there are 13 total options available on SLT; the 12 standard and one low volume ("light green").

I've seen one guy ordered a low volume color. It took forever to get his truck built. It looks like they wait until they have enough orders of that color to do a production run with that color.
I guess those low volume colors are mainly there for fleet orders.
You might be able to order one, but be ready to wait a long time.

After all was said and done and I picked Delmonico Red. Now just to wait an undetermined time to actually see the truck.

Hauling hogs and cattle mostly, palleted fertilizer, concrete, etc.

Edit - We're running with a SRW F350 pickup right now. Great truck but limited on tow simply because it's bumper pull. Also learned over the last year that we never actually use the pickup box because most of the stuff we load is on pallets so a flatbed oughtta be handy.

Well ,now it looks like you have the right truck for the job!

Don't forget to post some pics right after you get it completed....while it's still nice and shiny!

For sure! Won't take long before it's dirty and keeping our trucks clean is a full-time job.

We had a 2008 Ram 4500 Chassis Cab (single cab but extra long bed) with a CM flatbed on it for my family's feed store delivery/work truck. It gave us over 400,000 problem free miles and only stopped because someone t-boned it and totaled it out. Absolutely one of the toughest trucks we've ever had.

Post some pictures once you get the bed on!

Wow!

That's impressive.

With a Cummins?

Yes, it was the absolute base model at the time. Rubber floorboards, vinyl seats, crank windows, etc.

I will admit it wasn't a comfortable truck to drive long distance but it hauled anything we put on the bed (pallets of feed, bales of hay).

I think it was close to 415,XXX-ish at the time of the accident. We had a local diesel shop do the normal oil changes, brake jobs, trans flush, and whatever minor maintenance or repair was needed. Overall a super dependable work truck that we'd probably still be using. Unfortunately once it was totaled we couldn't get it insured with a salvage title so we let it go.

Great looking truck! While you are there, please take the time to smack the sales manager that decided to put those tires and wheels on the JKU behind you.

Post up some pics after you get your logo on it.
