Handgun mount to drivers seat

What's funny Anthony? Not trying to start a contest....but I used it in my 4th gen 1500 and my current 2500. Nice to just slide it around the lip of the map pocket in my truck or my wife's vehicle. Then can use it to carry when out of my rig. No drilling, etc... LMK if you want a pic.

I took a look at the product when you mentioned it.

There is another thread on here about using magnets to secure a gun in a vehicle. You're an adult and can do as you wish, but I would not recommend using a magnet. You're more likely to get into a car accident than have to use that gun in a self-defense situation. You don't want that gun flying around your cabin or getting stuck under your brake pedal.

The magnet is a convenience. Not a form of retention.

I mounted mine the way I did because it's physically bolted to the truck and my holster has a ALS level 1 retention system to keep the gun in the holster. Before this I used a normal kydex holster inside my center console (and will still use it depending on where I park).

Hmmm...good point. I did not think of it hitting me in the head during an accident. Definitely something to think about. I do have a couple of kydex holsters for my P365, that sit in my door or my lower center console section too.

You plan on selling these?

When I was in the military (Airborne Infantry), there was an emphasize on properly securing your gear in a vehicle. Anything of weight was tied or locked down.

No plan on selling them. Everything I used can be bought at home depot for under $20. I used a table vice to shape the bracket and my angle grinder to cut to length. Careful using too thin of a metal. I believe mine was 2"x18"x1/8".

I'm the guy that started the magnet holster thread and I decided against it for this very reason. I still think it's a decent product and I ended up installing it under my work bench where I keep a small revolver concealed. But for riding in a vehicle this made me nervous about somebody hitting me in traffic and the gun falling off the magnetic mount.

The design Anthony showed here is probably the best/cheapest/most ergonomic mount I have seen so far. A few people have done a very similar mount on the center console but for those of us with the bench seat or power wagon this seemed to be the best option. I keep my M&P 9mm in an OWB holster clipped onto the lower cubby hole in the tradesman but once I find a holster I like for vehicle use I'll be going this route.

I say this as someone with no military or LEO training and just as someone who shoots IDPA/3 Gun competitions and has had some small arms training for those matches.

That's funny because I shoot P-dogs and wabbits and tree rats out my 2nd floor bathroom window (pellet rifle).

I've got them pushed out so far now, getting the dope on them at 120+ yards is a bitch with a .22 hollow point pellet.

My wife asked one day why I had a map on the window sill... My range card. I was a REMF but the US Army still taught me well. ROFL.

I just keep a .380 in a shoot through holster (looks like a wallet in your pocket) in my right back pocket and carry it EVERYWHERE I go......although Augusta Mall, which is posted for no weapons, just added a gun sniffing dog on walking patrol because of all the mall shootings so I guess I'll quit shopping in the mall. No big deal since I haven't been to the Mall since they closed Sears.

Augusta, Georgia? Home of the masters? In Georgia, a “no weapons” sign holds no water. you wouldn’t be breaking the law by carrying there.

They can, however, ask you leave. If you don’t leave, you could be trespassed.

LOL! I too, have shot my share of varmits from my bathroom window. Good times.

Yeh I know. I wouldn't mind being ask to leave......but it would be embarrassing with a German Shepherd attached to my ass.

No, would not be considered concealed. Fine in states where open carry is legal like it is here (and fairly common).

There is some level of owner responsibility and knowing your environment. Would I leave my gun mounted like this if parking in Phoenix or another big city? No, I would put in in the center console.

If you draw straight up you won't muzzle your legs or body. ;)
No reason to leave a gun in the car while in Phoenix nor would I want to be without one.

My first time playing with safariland stuff I’m gonna try to work with this locking system. It’s compatible with my Phlster. I’ll play around with placement before I drill holes in my truck

Leave my gun in the car out of sight all the time down in Phoenix. Millions probably do.

Why would you ever leave a gun in the truck? It should always be on your person.

Because I don't want to carry two guns on my body when I leave my truck?

Yes, that's what I use for my truck and gun belt mount. It should have came with hardware as well. You should look at their retention holsters as well. Probably the best holsters on the market.

I usually have two, no problems and they are never left alone in the vehicle. If for some reason that were to be required, it would be in a vault. Sorry, but I am a firm believer in always on person. Truck mount, to me, would be for comfort while traveling and quicker access when in vehicle. That’s only my $.02 worth. To each his own.
