Car Wash?

So how does everyone wash their PW’s?

I don’t have a spigot near my driveway to wash my 75th, but I’m hesitant to take it to an automated car wash.

If I do go to a car wash will the tires and truck fit?

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I'd be more worried about the paint from brushes and pads than the fit.

My 04 2500 QCLB fit with stock wheels +2 tires but I always had to take the drop hitch off or it would break stuff.

I tend to shy aware from full automatics (those things are deadly) and only use attended "semi-automatic" car washes.

Idk about around you but my CCLB is just a hair to long for the auto washes do you not have any manual wash bays where you are? Why not add a water valve close to your driveway would cost you less in the long run assuming your able to do the plumbing yourself

Do they still have touch washes around you? They were all converted to touchless here lol

Good call on the touch less. My wife takes her RDX through one. I’m just hesitant if I have to put my tires into their push rails. I’ve had a tire popped in one before.

I’m in the foothills outside of Boise, Idaho, so there are a lot of modern conveniences. I’m just new to a large truck.

Not sure about adding a spigot just to wash it. I could hook up a couple 50’ hoses, but I’m lazy

Thanks for the recommendations.

You should be fine width wise most newer ones are even capable of doing duallys

I would only use brushless auto washes or wash my cars myself.

With the truck though I have so many pin stripes it doesn't really matter how I wash it. I generally pressure wash it at home myself, but run it through the auto wash sometimes. The only thing I have to be careful of is the bed rack getting caught up in the brushes. The big auto wash in town is pretty modern and the attendant turns off the top brush roller when I roll through. I'm also almost at the 7'1" height limit.

All of the automated washes around here have no problem with width, but none of them accommodate height.

The one I've found that advertises that they accommodate "Hummers and lifted trucks" still has a limit of 7'4", so I'm stuck doing it myself, though my CCLB does seem to take up every inch of the spray it yourself wash bays.

I enjoy hand washing my truck. One of the smartest things I did was put hot and cold water spigots in my garage.

I don't have water access at our rental so I use the car wash. I used a self wash bay one time. Cost me as much in quarters as the automatic places. Also the soap stained my clothes and me.

I like my local grocery car wash. They have both soft touch and touchless. I usually use touchless. I've found the only issue there is make darn sure the truck is centered. Not a lot of room for error on the sides with the mirrors tucked in. One time I was a little too far left and the arm kept hitting the mirror. Last night tried the new fancy express car wash. That used rubber conveyor belt. Very nice. I've found no height issues, stock PW.

I use attended auto wash for my 1500 and 3500. Both have a Leer shell, the 3500 shell has Thule roof racks. both go through the 7'2" clearance wash ok.

Used to be you could find a fundraiser "Bikini Car Wash" on every other corner around here on weekends! Haven't seen one in years now.

I went through one a few times. The one we use, the workers prewash the hard to get places like the back of the cab and tailgate. My truck fit through and came out clean.

But, the tornado force dryers at the end of the tunnel about turned my hood inside out. I now wash my truck by hand every two - three months instead.
