I agree, however I don't think FCA realize the failure rate when they first launched the CP4. While I'm sure the beancounters had a large part to play in the push for it's adoption, and I'm sure they were aware of the issues experienced by Ford/GM they likely thought their failure rate would be no worse than Ford/GM and the money that they would save would be more than worth it.Any truck regardlesd of make is still only as good as the people backing it. But to put an expensive product out like our Cummins and dress it with a product known to cause concern is to me an indication the company is thinking more about short term profits and NOT customer satisfaction. A happy customer is a loyal customer and loyalty equates to long term profits
I'm oh so hopeful they step up and do the right thing. I'm not looking forward to badmouthing FCA after I have to do my own retro CP3 kit... That would make me wait til 99K for a CP4.2 implosion just so they would have to pay the ridiculous cost of a retro kit. Makes no sense at all. CP4.2 blows, 10K, CP3 retro 2K maybe?@RamCares today would be a good day to announce all 19-20s getting recalled for retro CP-ISB21S3 pumps if you just want to F with us a bit.
While I agree 100%, I had the displeasure of buying a 2012 "MAX tow 3500 with the 68RFE . It shifted nice and hard like I want a trans to do in a HD truck,..... Come to find out the transmission department of FCA decided on a "shifting" change to the 2013 68RFE, but never told the dealers. Well, My 2012 3500 was sucking up oil changes every 3K because of the "shoot diesel into the cylinder so it goes "downstream" and burn off smog..... Diluting the oil causing the change oil lite to come on every 3K. I got rid of it and bought a 2013 2500 with the 68RFE and it shifted like a drunk sailor on shore leave.. Flares between shifts etc. After 6 months of a pissing contest with the dealer, and talking to a FCA transmission engineer, come to find out they softened the shifting because "people were complaining it was too harsh".......It may take a bit before the change come out....IMHO....Next Wednesday will be 90 days since the "service solution" announcement.
I had faith they would do something too. At that point, it will be officially all gone. The 'Rona is a tired excuse for sloppy customer service. If you can't figure out what you're going to do in 90 days as any type of business owner, you're incompetent. Even if you're not going to release the fix for awhile (if there is one) because of Rona shortage, at least announce the damn thing. Again, if it's a simple warranty extension, 90 days is plenty to have a lawyer and bean counter draft up some official docs.
This is ridiculous.
I wanted a Ram cummins so bad but after hearing about this issue I went Duramax. Just one lost sale but I had to vote with my wallet!

Ironic that GM's best marketing has been Ram's use of the CP4 for two model years.
Yeah good luck. My father's L5P just had major engine work done under warranty at 72,000ish miles and he was without it for several weeks. GM says it's "common" and that when a rocker breaks they want the entire head overhauled with new rockers and valvetrain on that side. And I can tell that overall he's just not totally happy with the truck, especially after riding in my 5th Gen Ram. He'll likely dump that GM pile as soon as the new DT body gets put into production on the Ram 3500.

I concur... there's a good chance you're correct.I think if I remember right the TSB said the fast feedback program was going until the end of May 2021?. I don't personally expect to hear anything until after that.
Hopefully along the way they have been developing/designing a easy swap in place new style CP3 , which I am sure they have been. It does read like they are waiting until May 31, 2021 to pull the trigger on their decision. Its too bad we do not have access to the failure rate. I imagine it would have to be under subpeona to get that info..Is this the TSB? Not sure exactly what fca is saying in this but if I had to guess their going until the end of May to see failure rates, cost to replace all the affected vehicles, and on and on until our fate is decided
