Truck came with 18" firestones it was fine. Installed 20" with 295/65r20 toyo open country and now it bounces over bumps steering wheel moves. I'm looking at a carli stabilizer. Does anybody have experience with a better stabilizer correcting this.

Are tires/wheels the ONLY thing you changed? What air pressure are you running?

Why go from 18 to 20 ? less rubber means somewhat of a harsher ride I would think.

Sorry tire size is 285/60 R20 toyo open country AT2 10 ply. 63psi. I needed a more aggressive tire. Snow can be bad up here. The 20" came to me cheap. Kids hate chrome these days, I like em. The problem is the 1/2 less sidewall and the harder compound with 10 hd plys vs firestone who made a tire that cushions this trucks ride. It could be ram suspension as I never owned one. F550 and chevy 2500hd never had the steering wheel move over a bump. I need to hold the wheel two hands 4 and 8 o'clock I can't hold my hand over the top of the wheel like I do in the 550.
Looked at the carli stabilizer but question if it will oppose the gpm of the pump and make steering harder. It's worth a try to me just seeking advice from guys not looking to sell me parts.

Post #3 asked the key question. Changing offset changes the scrub radius and can cause all sorts of bad behavior.

If you have issues with the tires bumping your wheel in both directions, I don't think the Carli stabilizer is your answer, as it is geared specifically to combat pull to the left.

You could look into one of the steering box braces (lots of companies offer them) which may provide some help, but I don't think a steering stabilizer is your answer (based on the info provided so far).

That's interesting.

I have a 2019 Tradesman that came equipped with the 18" transforce on junkyard wheels and replaced them Nitto 285/65-20 EXO Grapplers on 20" Longhorn wheels.

I have never experienced what you have.

That seems to reinforce the thought that it is width/offset related

Offset is close to same. The rims are 20" ram rims off a limited 2020. New take offs. I took off steel 18" mines a 2020. No rubbing at all. Not even close. Let me ask this. Can you lay your wrist over the top of your steering wheel and hit a good bump without having to correct the truck when it's over. In my 550 I can the ram I need to be ready to correct it. Not the end of the world but it's not right either.

Ok so you are running basically same setup. If I hit a bump I need to correct my direction. In my 550 I can hit anything barely holding the wheel and it stays where it was. Maybe this state just needs to fix the speed bump crater roads.

Do you live in Dutchess or Putnam county?

Not for your average pot hole or frost heave. I will be honest when I see something like that I do just about anything to avoid them.

I know I get M.F'd alot by the the people behind me.

But, it is my truck.

My dually reacts like that, which I chalk up to the difference in track front/rear. SRW should be pretty minimal.

That sucks. Was thinking offset or PSI as well, but you already answered those questions. I would expect not as good ride quality out of a 20 vs. the 18, but probably not as bad as you're having.

The guys at CJC Offroad might be able to help you diagnose things without trying to throw a bunch of money at it.
