Removing air dam

Only reason I know this is because I added a mopar front plate holder to a truck that didn’t have one. Reason was so I could run my American flag plate until I got my bumper.

You mericans and your flag.... i wish i could be proud of our flag lol
Gotta be proud of it!

I originally mounted the plate in the two holes in the bumper, but the plate sat at a funny angle and didn’t look right

The mopar plate bracket was cheap maybe $18 and the plate looked better in the correct spot. It did require tapping screws through the meat of the air dam

Of course all the factory flimsy stuff is trash now

On trucks without the front plate holder, There are two dimples in the air dam to locate the screws and “anchors” behind the dam. They’re definitely supposed to be there.
I don't recall seeing any dimples. Both screws were installed poorly. You could see where the holes where they attach were higher then the other. I will take a photo tonight.

I installed mine poorly as well. I missed one of the built-in anchors when I started the screw through the air dam. They function sort-of like drywall anchors but they were molded into the back of the air dam. I whiffed it when I sent the screw home but she never let go.

BTW is it possible my MPG went up after I did oil change myself? It might sound funny but either the warm weather or oil change have something to do with with. I drive same route to work everyday (all highway) and for the past few months my MPG was around 12.5 and now after I did the oil change myself (before dealer did it) it went up right away to 14 -14.5. Just coincidence? I didn't change anything. Same gas same gas station.

my 2020 definitely has screws attaching the plate holder to the air dam.

Here’s the test

Change it again and see if it goes up to 16

fwiw, the air dam is held on with a dozen or so bolts and the bumper is only held on with 4.
