50 Gallon Fuel Tank

So I'm gleaning from here (unless already posted) the OEM 50 gal won't fit standard bed? Not factory order, but if one was to retrofit. Just for curiosity sake.

I read through the Titan install manual. Looks like a breeze. Manual was well done and looks like a quality tank. They'll be getting my money down the road.

I kept searching ths internet every few days until I found someone that had my fueal tank "on sale". Saved $200. And Titan now says that the skid plate is no longer manufactured, nor recommended any longer. So that was $250ish that I did not need to spend.
Even on sale i guarantee they are making at least 500% on them thats ridiculous money to spend for a tank from where i stand there
is a lot more i can do with 2 grand

Well okeedokie then. I like the 450 mile range towing my 5th 2heel camper with an American made fuel tank.

I'm betting you also spent more buying your truck than I did.

Probably... im building a 64 gal tank under my toolbox for 150$ Thats why the 2 grand for a 50 gal tank bothers me

Consider your time, expense of the equipment, testing of the tank ( you will test it, right?). And how many hours learning to be able to do that? Of course some folks can build a tank like you are doing. Now build a tank that replaces stock tank in that location.

Plus I want my bed availablewhen I remove the 5th wheel hitch.

The market determines what people are willing to pay for a good or service. Regardless of their return on investment, if the product has a value to you, get it. If not, don't.

No biggie.

While I doubt the 50 gallon plastic tank cost mucn more than the 32 gallon tank to make, it is certainly worth the extra 200 dollars in convenience to me since I tow a heavy fifth wheel and reducing my fuel stops gets me to my destination sooner and saves some hassle pulling of the expressway to refuel.

I get what your trying to say i really do it just amazes me the cost for what you get knowing the production costs

There is so much more to product pricing than simply production costs + profit margin. Overhead costs of facilities, employees, etc. plus they probably had to purchase a truck, measure, test fit, etc. How many units they project to sell will also factor in so they can cover these initial costs. Go buy an injection molder, warehouse, and hire some employees to help. Let us know if you can make this tank for less than $2k and make a profit. You'll probably have some business just from this board.

Had the Titan 52 gallon tank installed in my CCSB today. Shop did it in about 4 hours including a fill up and test drive. I changed the tank size in the parking lot using Alfa. DTE immediately went to 818 miles. I set it to 194 liters, even though that's a bit short, due to information and previous experiences of other members.

Do you leave the security bypass cable always connected? Or it wasn't needed?

I leave the bypass always connected. I unplug it from the OBD2 port and tuck it up under the dash with a small piece of velcro. The shop that did the install uses the AEV Snap, which obviously doesn't help them with these types of parameter changes. They suggested I "reset my Trip computer and learn how to manually track my range..." LOL.

i head you can use the ez lynk to change the settings for the dash?

Sorry for the delay, here's the part number on the OEM 50 gal tank. I can't find it anywhere online, but maybe if you call a dealership they can find it.

A local dealer told me the OEM 50 gallon tank has a new part number: 68534612AA and it is on national backorder?. I looked up the part number and it says "48" gallons?

My dealer also told me it was only a 48 gallon tank for my diesel. Someone here said the gas was 48, but the diesel was 50.

Many things will be in short supply for a while. Much of the USA will panic when told something is not available. Wait until the food supply shortages appear in May/June.

Going to build and price it lists the diesel as a 48 gallon now
