I know that this is old news to most of y'all, but its new to me. Here in TX we dont get much need for our Heated Side Mirrors, but I was driving through the ice storm on Thursday and cussing the fact that my heated mirrors weren't working....470 miles into it I finally relented and watched a 1 minute YouTube video.

Turns out that Im an idiot. I dont know why I couldn't figure it out, since it is so intuitive.

In order to turn on the Heated REARview Mirrors......you have to turn on the REAR window defroster.

DUH.

Like I said....news to me. Thank you, YouTube.

Happy Trails, all.

Well I guess you don't have call to use them in Texas NORMALLY. I hear you're getting hit hard with ice right now though.

Remember, 4wd only helps as long as you keep slow enough to ALLOW it to work

Most definitely!!! Yeah....Hell has certainly frozen-over.
When I was stationed in Europe (long long ago in a lifetime far far away) I remember watching a 63-ton M-1 slide through an intersection because not even tracks (with road-pads) have traction on ICE. My squad could push our APC...by hand...sideways. NOTHING has traction on ice.
Fortunately, Im not the kind of fella who feels the need to get in a hurry...ever...and certainly not on ICE. I try to drive with my head OUT of my ass and plan well-ahead.
Stay OFF the brakes!!!!

LOL

I'm fixing to sell my 2016 Bighorn, so when looking over all the paperwork including the window sticker I notice I have electronic adjustable foot pedals. Never realized it. I then discovered a button on the side of steering column to do the adjustment.
Talk about a "duh" moment.

The symbol is actually for the mirrors thats the symbol in every vehicle for the heated mirrors also you will see the same symbols on the mirrors

First time I used the heated mirrors I thought something was wrong with the convex ones. Turns out they're not heated on my build. Went to Boost Auto Parts and bought a kit for the heated convex and now they're heated from top to bottom.

I didn't think that any of the convex mirrors were heated, unless it was added on later years.
That sounds like an excellent upgrade by the way... thanks!

Kinda points out that we really don’t “need” all these toys, but they are fun none the less.

Sounds like he got these:

I’ve been eying them myself

that link indicates "(without power convex/lower glass)," those don't look right...shape-wise ??

Fitment: 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 Dodge Ram trucks (including Cummins) with OEM or aftermarket mirrors (without power convex/lower glass), and any older Ram truck with aftermarket fourth gen mirrors.

The 'or' should be referring to the aftermarket mirrors and not the OEM mirrors (provided the person who wrote the sentence has a grasp of English grammar).

They work for oem and aftermarket mirrors just not the ones with power convex they have a video installing them where they explain it better than they can type it

The symbol is actually for the mirrors AND the rear window if you have the rear window defrost option. One button works both.

It works for both but it is the international symbol for mirror defrost is what i ment

I watched the 5th Gen install video and I don't recall any mention of this not working with the power convex mirrors...I'll send them an email for confirmation.

@Mike67 do you have the power convex mirrors?
