Anyone ordered a truck recently that can give an idea of build time? I ordered a 2021 Ram 3500 this week. Dealer is saying 8-12 weeks. Does that sound right?

I ordered on 11/5/20 and a week later the dealer gave me a build date of 12/18. The truck was built on 12/12 and delivered on 1/5/21

With all the times between order and delivery being all over the map I gotta wonder if they don't run the assembly line by certain models. In other words, maybe make dually trucks one week, crew cabs another, mega cabs another week and so on. I can't see a pattern but there must be some reason for it but just a guess. Appears Canadian orders are low on the totem pole. LOL

I had started an order with my dealer but never committed and they went ahead and put the order in. 2 weeks later I built the same truck just added the ram boxes and my build arrived in 1 day over 8 weeks and the first build didn't arrive until 3 weeks after mine. My truck 8 weeks and the first build 13 weeks. Crazy how some get built before others. The dealer did say that builds with customer names do get built faster.

I ordered 1/28 and have gotten no further information. My dealer (sales guy) seems uninterested in researching or providing updates so I guess I just wait. I will keep trying Ram chat but last week they told me the dealer has no order in my name. A lot depends on the dealer apparently.

I would call or stop by and talk with the sales manager ! That is the only way I can get real updates on my build . Also if ram chats doesn't have a order under your name with a vin and von number then your dealer ordered it as a stock order instead of a sold order. That is what my sales manager told me anyways.

That is exactly what they did, sucks. That means my truck will take forever.

If it makes you feel any better, I ordered on the 18th but it was a holiday and they had to put it in on the 19th
I’m in GA. Where are you? Dealer says they’re coming up via boat now.

Im in Florida. I originally ordered on 1/14 but the dealer didnt put the order in until 4 days later. I was a little annoyed, but whatever. Are you saying yours is already built and on its way to the dealer ?

No, I'm saying boat as opposed to trailered. Still in D1 status AFAIK. Based on the feedback here, if it gets here in March, I'll be surprised.

After looking at my build sheet, I noticed that my order was submitted as Fleet Sales order, Sold order and Build priority of 99. Does anyone know what this all means?

Why not just put in another order and make sure they get it right? You're not committed to buying the truck they ordered in their name. And, if you care about this kinda thing, the truck sold to YOU will have your name on the window sticker

Are you referring to the P.O.C.? The build sheet is something else that you get later after it is built. Is your name on it as the customer? and what is the status code?

If they delete blind spot on my truck I'm not buying the truck. Period. I'll wait. There is a reason why I ordered and waiting so long otherwise I would have bought off the lot even if I had to travel.

I purchased my 2019 off the lot which didn't have some of the features I wanted and regret it. You pay that much for a truck it should be EXACTLY how you like it. Just my feelings on the subject.

I ordered my Laramie on 1/21 and have not heard from the dealer since. If my truck comes without the blind spot monitor or lane keeping assist the dealer will be keeping my truck. I am going from a 2017 Ford F350 Dually Lariat that is fully loaded to a Ram 2500 Hemi because I have a seasonal site for my camper and rarely pull anymore, but a dually isn't worth a darn in the snow and sits 5 months out of the year. I'll buy another Ford SRW if I can't get the Ram with options I ordered.

@RamCares - What's the plan here? I've seen no formal communications and if this is the case, where you intend on building a truck without all the components I ordered, I intend on cancelling my order this weekend. It's $70k.... if I wanted it half right I would have taken something off the lot.

Factories with multi-week lead times will usually build in an order that is most efficient for their line to continuously flow. When I worked in boat manufacturing for example, a dual console model took 20% more time on the basic construction line so we had to schedule them every 3rd unit or the rest of the factory would slow down. I know a few RV manufacturers will run one color scheme for weeks at a time to simplify supply chain. Trucks are such high volume though that they should be able to build those differences into their factory layout, but I know they have some slow outsourcing arrangements in Saltillo that throw completion and delivery dates off.

After chatting with Ram chat this morning, they were able to give me the VIN and clarify the truck was ordered in my name. So that's good news. It is currently "gathering parts awaiting build".

I placed order for 2021 2500 larmie mega cab for $65k on 10/3, order accepted 10/5, built complete 12/1, since then no status available waiting to be shipped from Mexico. Its been 4 full months did not get my vehicle . Chatting with customer care, same status for last 7 week. Very frustrating... not sure how much more to wait... before see the truck

Incentives....I'm trying to see past incentives. From what I understand I can choose either the incentives in place when I ordered my truck or those in place when it arrives. I ordered in December and it will arrive late Feb or very early March. The zero percent offered this month is nice but I'd like to see what the offer was in December. Also wish I had a crystal ball for March!
