Price negotiated from MSRP

Ok I can officially post here! Ordered a 2021 2500 Megacab Limited w/ the 6.7 yesterday. They said 8 to 12 weeks. I’m really jazzed. My 2nd truck but the first was 10+ years ago.
I would describe my deal as “good”. Some of you guys are knocking it out of the park but I did my usual thing (internet pricing requests, cross shop multiple dealers, research incentives, etc) and honestly not a lot of love on 2021 2500 discounting in SoCal. There were a few dealers giving $4k or $5k off but that was if they happen to have a truck in inventory.
I like my sales guy, the whole process was chill and smooth, no sales “tactics”, multiple test drives over multiple days, and his GM allowed $1k over invoice (or FWP). Easy breezy.

For perspective, truck is a little over $87 and I’m getting for $81. About 7% off sticker. That’s better than anything else I saw (though I physically didn’t go to multiple dealers, play ”hardball” etc). My gut tells me there is some money on the table, but I’m happy. And if I end up trading my car in, I’ll remind them of that as part of the trade in conversation....

2020 2500 laramie NE 6.4 hemi CC with tons of options, priced at 67k but paid 58k OTD. purchased from Grainger motors in Granger Iowa.

Not all dealers are sleazy? Everyone who works an honest day deserves a few bucks. I bet many of us tip 15 - 20 percent, and yet see the dealer as the enemy who must be crushed at all costs.
Yep.......at least in this area. Salesman doesn’t need a tip.

How does this deal look on a new 2020? Is there room to go lower?

I went to dealer today to test drive this truck. Had a screen shot of the deal they posted on line which I posted here and they added another $1,500 on top. The truck was low on fuel and actually quit while pulling into gas station. Took a lot of cranking to get it started after fueling.

I was aiming for a lower , not higher price so I walked.

Is it included $500 mil and $1000 for financing?
$9850 + $500+$1000?

The best deal I saw recently, the dealer is very nice to you.

Perhaps OP will verify but I read that as the $78,000 included 500 mil and 1,000 financing so price was 78,000 minus whatever may be in place rebate, etc. when truck arrives. That is still a good deal for these times at about 9% off before the Mil and financing discounts. My order was just over 7% off MSRP so not as good as 9%.

Correct. The dealer is awesome, used them for me Jeep where they treated me well, and the same treatment continues with this deal.

Wow. $11,350 off your $87,850 MSRP. I know that includes the MIL and Financing credits, but still, that is much better than most of us are getting right now. Congratulations!

Thanks! Happily recommend this dealer to anyone in the mid east coast. I drove 8hrs one way when I lived in SC to get the Jeep, thankfully I live closer now

The dealer name?

I'm driving a 3500 lonestar but considering order a limited trim for more features.

Fitzgerald Auto Mall of Lexington Park, it's up in Maryland. I work with Caroline. Craig at Koons was offering pretty similar pricing but since I have a history with Fitzgerald, I went with them again

My price for my '21 2500 6.7 Laramie was EPP plus dealer let me keep the dealer hold back as well. When I picked it up New Years Eve I got the $1k rebat Ram was offering on 21 models as the time, ended up near 14% off MSRP. I'm in Eastern KY.

Hey Guys,

Happy to potentially be joining the gang with a new 2020 2500 longhorn. Getting 10K off MSRP off 81160$. Plus haven't told the dealership I have another $500 coupon thru SAMs Club.
so a total of 10500 off MSRP, for a pretty damn loaded truck. Im factoring in that this is the color combo I best prefer and has all the options I am looking for.

Worth going in on this one? with CP4 issues.

Thanks! Wish me luck on getting this deal wrapped up!

I think you can get more off. Imo I would be shooting for 12-15 on a 2020. I got 10,560 off my 2021 on January 1st. If you don’t need a truck right now next big sale will be over Memorial Day Weekend

Thanks for the input. I think I’ll take your tip and hold out for a killer deal on a 2021!!! On the west found a bunch available now and I’m sure more coming as the weeks pass.

So I have a question. How are you guys starting your conversation with your dealer on getting these deals. You come in and demand or flat out tell them what you pay or do you play stupid and ask them for bottom dollar and wait until they come back to start the haggle process. Because when I do it they don’t really get nothing done with me

I started out by telling them I have supplier pricing (FFP) and go from there. Incentives are on top of that. Per this thread some have done better price wise than I did on the truck I ordered. That said I've never had the opportunity and look forward to what I have coming.

Depends on the dealer, salesman, stock vehicle, left over, etc. Are you ordering or purchasing from stock?

Really depends on the dealer. Some dealerships that are located centrally in busy areas just don't do the crazy pricing deals that you see some getting here because they get dozens of customers per week that come in and pay basically MSRP. They just don't need to come down off their price because the vast majority of car buyers are happy to get a grand or two off of MSRP and sign the papers.

I live in Virginia and am driving 4 hours to pick up my truck once it comes in. The dealer up in Maryland that I used (Fitzgerald Auto Mall in Lexington Park) is known for doing great deals. Koons in Tyson's Corner is another one that's up in Northern VA near Maryland. I don't really know why some dealers are willing to do 6% or so off invoice (roughly 10% or more off of MSRP) but they do. There is info around these forums about where different folks around the country are going to get their deals.

You'll have to do some forum digging to see if you can find a dealer somewhat near to you that will give you the pricing that you're looking for. In all the places I've lived, the local dealer could come NO WHERE near the pricing that some dealers can do. When I went to test drive a 3500 at a local dealer, the sales manager got a real attitude when he asked if I was planning to order through them and I told him no. Told him I was getting about 7% off invoice through another dealer, he just stopped talking and walked away.

To directly answer your question, when I started talks with both Koons and Fitzgerald about the truck, I just said something along the lines of "I hear you guys do at or near 6% off invoice, I'm looking for your best price quote on XXX truck." They shot me back the quote, and it was agreeable to me so I didn't haggle from there. Typically I think when you find near 6% off invoice, it's not really a price that they'll haggle on. It's already such a smoking deal relative to what you can find elsewhere (and they know this) that when they give you the price, that's the price you're gonna get. It's up to you to decide if you want to try to haggle from there, just know that they may be unwilling to budge.
