Getting ready to receive my ordered truck in the next few weeks. I am putting together a list of items to inspect when looking over the truck prior to signing on the line. Below is what I have so far. Looking for additional items based on your experience and other things to look out for.

All options ordered are on the sticker. (I've checked the sticker online and everything looks good)

Exterior
Paint defects
Dents in the body, roof included
Body/bed alignment
Glass
Wheels

Interior
Seats
panel/doors/dash fit and finish
carpet

Thanks for the list!

For the fit and finish, is there really anything you can do to have them fix that before delivery?

I had a plan to do a detailed inspection of the my truck but then I saw it and just wanted to take it home so I instead just did a quick inspection.

I went over mine while waiting for the papers caught a couple things like the bed step was not there it was during the step recall

What kind of cables and extras does one get with a new truck? I ordered mine with the VSIM which I've heard comes with a separate harness?

Also, I think you get another set of wires if you get uplifter switches. Just trying to go from memory here.

Hitch adapter, vsim bag with 3 or 4 harness ends, upfitter bag with a bunch of wires, and if its diesel you should have a winter front

That's good info to add to the checklist. I've got all of the above you mentioned.

Is the winter front the plug for the heater?

Ahhh, gotcha. Do you have to purchase the plug separately, then?

The block heater if listed on the order sheet should be already installed its tucked up behind the front bumper dead center, if you dont have it listed on the build sheet you need to buy the cord as the heater element will already be installed

Haven't had time to put all the part numbers on this list:

  • 2 keys
  • 2.5" to 2” hitch reducer
  • tailgate plug cover
  • small funnel under passenger seat (Diesel only?)
  • front plate bracket if not mounted
  • Owners manual
  • Diesel Supplement
  • UConnect manual
  • Options:
    • 7-4 pin plug adapter with Aux trailer camera wiring
    • Aux switch upfitter wiring kit (if ordered) in a large plastic bag.
    • VSIM Upfitter wiring bag
    • Bag of 4 TPMS sensors if Trailer TPMS ordered

They might be able to do little stuff.

Inspect the truck first and give them a list before you start paperwork.

I had a few little interior issues they put a trim guy on right away and fixed while I was inside.

A few others I missed, they took care of afterwards no problem. Check the interior trim pieces on the A, B, C pillars. One of my A-pillar trims wasn't hooked into the dash properly.

My cab/bed alignment was a mess...

Check your fuses to make sure they are completely seated. I know mine were not, and many others have said the same thing.

My understanding is it comes with every diesel truck... here in canada that is
Could be a regional thing. I did not get the radiator bra on my new diesel here in NC. I will buy the heater cord just to have it as we will visit Wisconsin this year.

In addition to the above, check the tire pressure. Mine were all four above 95 PSI and there have been plenty of reports where others are seeing similar.

Curious on what issues you had with your cab and bed alignment? Was it the gap between the two, or serving different? We're they able to correct the issues?
