Items to Inspect Upon Delivery

Look in the box and see if there are 5 holes if you ordered your with 5er/gooseneck prep. Mine got lost somehow (wasn't put in) and it took me a while to notice that (I also ordered mine with toneau cover so didn't see the inside the box until I needed to use the box). As OEM parts were hard to come by, they sent my truck to an aftermarket hitch place (of my choice) to get it installed. As a bonus the kit they installed came with a 30k lbs gooseneck ball and safety chain anchor kit.

What I was wondering was if parts like ball joints, u-joints, tie rod ends and emissions components etc were the same. They used to be different on Canada spec'd trucks compared to US trucks. Some hard parts were heavier duty on Canada trucks many years ago. Ford had a plant in Canada and I remember trying to purchase Ford's that were built there because everything was more robust. I was wondering if the big 3 still did it this way.

Sorry I couldn't tell, I've no US trucks her to compare them side by side. It's possible I guess that if they come out of another plant, they could be a little different... All RAMs come out of Mexico.

I was looking to see if the big 3 still spec-d different for different countries. Canada trucks were more robust than US trucks. I remember back in the day when going to parts, you had to know production date and country of origin in order to get the correct pieces.

Thanks for replying to all. As I sit here and think about the global environmental policies I imagine that's all the same. I can't imagine Canada is as wild as it was 30-40 years ago. (Not weather wise but modern roads, bridges, etc)

Are there any items y’all ask the dealer NOT to do?

I’m planning to ask them to
  • Not add a dealer decal on the tailgate
  • No plate of any sort on the front
  • Potentially not washing the truck. Prefer to not get a new truck full of swirl marks
I do all the above. I make it clear if these items are done, i won't take the truck. Last dealer gave me an absolutely filthy truck, interior still covered in plastic, i was pretty happy. They were baffled..

Getting ready to receive my ordered truck in the next few weeks. I am putting together a list of items to inspect when looking over the truck prior to signing on the line. Below is what I have so far. Looking for additional items based on your experience and other things to look out for.

All options ordered are on the sticker. (I've checked the sticker online and everything looks good)

Exterior
Paint defects
Dents in the body, roof included
Body/bed alignment
Glass
Wheels

Interior
Seats
panel/doors/dash fit and finish
carpet
look underneath the truck too! my two cents

I was walking around behind my supervisors '19 2500 the other day and noticed the box was off to the passenger side about 1/2".

Is this an easy fix for a dealer? Loosen mounting bolts, align, tighten?

It's easy, loosen the box bolts and move it, my dealer on my last 1500 wanted to send it to the body shop, I told them what to do, ended up doing it myself. We have cab and boxes off all the time at work, no biggie

Rockcrawlerdude, what is "this" Brother? I do not see anything. I am curious about the "PDR" that you and Brutal_HO are referring too. I am prepping my pre delivery inspection list.

Be safe,
Randy
