Hey all,

I picked up the Thuren active rate sway bar for my 19' 2500 Crew Cab Hemi and am shocked by the difference it's made. I highly suggest that anyone unhappy with the stiff factory suspension, especially while turning at low speeds, give this a shot first!
The truck should have come like this from the factory. I am simply floored at how well this thing allows for increased articulation on the front and results in much improved ride quality. If you don't feel like dropping thousands on new shocks and springs definitely give this a try. I hear the Carli equivalent is equally amazing.

Install was very simple, just a few bolts.

I'll most likely be upgrading to new wheels/tires and possibly, King 2.0's. For now this has solved many of my gripes about the truck.

That is all.

Happy Holidays!

Thanks for this!

But I must say I don't fully understand how this helps for on road; I guess I assumed this would be for off road or situations where there would be a lot of articulation. So, how does this help with everyday on road driving?

I have a 3500 and I think my biggest complaint is the stiff rear end; going over railway tracks for frost heaves in our northern roads gives a harsh bounce, mostly on the rear.
I'm assuming this would not help with that? Other than full rear suspension, is there a sway bar that helps the rear also?

Thanks,

B

Makes a big difference on road as well as higher speed off road.

Every driveway apron or entry/exit at an angle, it really reduces the cab pitch that the stock bar forces.

Kept mine from my old truck for the new one. Stock shocks were lacking to keep control. Fox 2.0s are ok. It will be nice to re-valve my King 3.0/2.5 combo for the new front weight.

Thanks for this. I just ordered mine yesterday, should be here next week. I've got the Thuren front and rear coils and Fox shocks. It already rides much better than stock. Are you going to do the rear bar as well? I know you said the install was simple, how long did it take you? Did you need to remove the tires and put on jack stands? Did you get a new alignment once it was installed? I am not sure if that is required or not. Thanks!

Ramalama, have you had a chance to test the Thuren sway with a good load in your truck yet?

I have the Bilstein level with the Thuren front bar. I had 2400 lbs of flagstone in the bed and thought it drove fine on a 35 minute drive at 70 mph up I70 west of Denver (it's steep!)

Thanks! I'm considering adding the Thuren sway once I get everything settled in with AEV suspension I'm getting installed. Seems to be a good add to soften up the front, but I don't want to lose stability when really loaded.

That run up to the Eisenhower is a workout!

I’m headed out of town for the weekend tomorrow ans wanted to get the new sway bar installed today. I took it to just a local garage across the street from my office thinking anyone could install it. The links looked kind of crooked when it was up on the rack. I came to pick up up right when they were finishing up. These aren’t the best pics, but is this how yours went on?

If at full droop, the Trackbar will pull the axle that way.
The flange of the inserts is supposed to be against the Swaybar and axle mounts. Not the bolt heads.

I installed the Thuren back in October and had pretty much exactly the same comments. I still maintain that it’s the single most effective mod I’ve ever done to a vehicle. The only issue I have is some slight tire rub on the bar at full lock, but it’s not enough for me to worry about.

Is this on stock suspension? What size tire?

Any of you guys have this on the 3500 and get a good improvement in ride?

Well dang. Sad to hear you have tire rub. I have over size tires and no lift. Maybe my wheel offset will clear. I’ll have to call thuren
Like I said, it’s very minimal. If you have lower offset wheels it should clear no problem. The reason is that where the stock bar has a kink in it the Thuren is straight.

You will not need to remove the wheel/tires (though it can give slightly more room to work), and an alignment is not necessary after the install. If you're mechanically inclined and have a good assortment of tools, installation should take about an hour to an hour and a half going slow and methodical.

Just a follow up, as I recently added the Thuren Torsion Sway Bar to my 2020 Tradesman with AEV Dualsport suspension. The suspension is also a recent install and I drove about 500 miles before adding the sway bar. As others have said, there's a very noticeable on-road difference, with the sway bar diminishing the "harshness" that the stock front suspension had, especially when the truck is unloaded. I haven't towed heavy with the truck yet, but hard cornering doesn't seem compromised and I'm pleased with the articulation I've gotten so far.

Install was straightforward and didn't require removal of anything nor jacking up the vehicle, although the 3" AEV lift surely helps  . One note for anybody adding this to the AEV suspension: Thuren ships the sway bar with 5.25" long sway bar links. While I was able to install and drive my truck with those, there was very little clearance between the passenger-side sway bar arm and the draglink. The AEV suspension flips the draglink to the top of the steering arm on the passenger side to create a "high steer" linkage. The solution was to get 6.75" sway bar links, which created more clearance. Andrew at Thuren was very helpful in getting me squared away, and I provided pics and details for their reference.

I'm thinking install this sway bar first them add a leveling kit, (Synergy or thuren or Carli ? Not decide yet, also I need change the track bar, right?)

If your suspension is currently stock, then the sway bar should install with no issues. An adjustable track bar allows the front axle to be re-centered, when you lift the front axle significantly from the stock geometry.

Got my Thuren sway bar and Fox ATS steering stabilizer, took some time to install, the grease gun did not work well.

Found there's rust on this 2 months truck!

Next, replace the stock shocks with FOX 985-24-098 - PERFORMANCE SERIES 2.0, give up leveling or lifting....

A local shop charge $500 for labor, I think I can save for rear shocks.....
