LED Cargo Bed Lights Wiring ?????

My 2019 2500 Power Wagon didn’t come with the LED Bed Lights and the dealer said they weren’t available as a kit from Mopar yet when I was buying it. Flash forward, the Mopar website now shows (2) kits for the bed lights that fit the 2019 and 2020 2500s. Same kit part number but different revision numbers. I bought the newest kit number but was shipped the old revision. Only differences appears to be the wiring, the new kit has two of the tan wire to reach under the dash or under the PDC (depending on 2500 vs 1500 Classic).

Anyways, after closely comparing all available install instructions and reading this thread on RamForum.com, the wiring I believe to be correct is green/white wire to under-dash connector C7 Pin 16, and tan/white wire to under-PDC connector C3 Pin 17.

Issue is, there is already a tan/white wire in under-PDC Connector C3 Pin 17. Has anyone else installed this kit? Is this wiring correct? Do I need to splice into the existing tan/white wire?

Now that you’ve added the factory set I suggest doing this as several of us on here have. Just some high quality led strips attached with 3M tape. Basically turns daylight on in the bed of your truck when you really need some light. You can tie into your new existing power and switch for the factory lights.

Extremely functional when a Tonneau Cover is installed.There are two Bed Lighting solutions available: Energy efficient LED tube lighting that mounts easily to the underside of left and right side of bedrails or two D-Pillar mounted LED Bed Lights. Both solutions are no drill installations. On/Off operation controlled using the existing vehicles dome/cargo lamp.. This product replaces 82215795AB.

It mentions two types, One of them being tube lighting. I haven't been able to find that version.

Im pretty sure I’ve read somewhere that the wiring for the lights is already on the trucks behind the taillights. you just need each light with it’s pigtail, and alpha to enable it. I’ll look and see if I can find that thread.

I have read where the 2016-2018 had the wiring. It would be awesome if the 2020s do. The new kit didn't show a big wiring harness so hopefully, it is ready to go. Regardless, it would be cool to find the kit with the tube lighting though.

The pic of the kit didn't show a big wire loom but I looked at the instructions for the new kit. It shows wiring into the cab like the OP did. I'll crawl under and check in the next day or two.

Found the thread I was looking for. It was the 16-18 I was reading about, but you would think the 19-20 would have them too.

Maybe it is similar to that one. It does say under the bedrails. I will add in the under the bedrails strips like others have anyway.

I did not... I’ve been thinking I might just take it to the stealership and have them splice the wires and activate

If there is already a tan/white wire in position 17 of the C3 PDC connector, that means the bed lights wire is already present up to a certain point in the harnesses. Just remove the one that is there, tape it back, and insert the one from the kit.

Wouldn’t the existing wire possibly be spotter lights? Since they turn on when I hit the lower button on the headlight switch. I don’t want to unplug and loose those!!

Nope. The spotter lights are run by a message sent from the switch to the door module via Lin bus wire. The tan/white wire you see is a dead end wire. It dies at one of the three in-line connectors on the way to the bed lights. Trust me- remove that wire, and insert the one from the kit.

Any idea where those connectors are? Wondering if it’s easier to just find those and plug into them directly?

Also the green and white wire that needs to plug in under the dash also has an pre-occupied pin in the connector...

Is the wire in position 16 of the C7 BCM connector tan/purple? Your truck might already have the bed light and bed light switch plugs. Look for this switch connector in this location-

Look for the bed lamp connectors in these locations-

If they are not there, then just remove the wires, and install the ones from the kit. That means the factory wires die off at one of the in-line connectors, and you don’t have the correct terminals in the kit wiring to insert them at any of the other in-line connectors.

Thanks for the info! Once it warms up in a couple days and some of the Snow melts I’ll crawl under and see if I’ve got connectors. I don’t recall seeing them, but I wasn’t looking for them so maybe! Fingers crossed!

I am curious as well. Seems odd they would not but who knows why chrysler does what it does.

I don’t believe I have the connectors built in at the back of bed.
the wiring is all the new wiring for the bed lights I already installed.
