Remote start added to 2020 Tradesman (SOLVED)

Question here. I know this has been beaten to death but I just want to be clear. If my truck has the hood wire. Can I just get them to add the sales code and use the original key fob where you push the lock three times and everything work? WIthout buying anything else?
I bought the key FOBs with remote start button so I don't know about the 3 times thing. But I do know if you have the hood latch switch you are wired for remote start to work.

The factory remote start system can’t be configured to use a 3x lock function to start. You need a fob that has the dedicated remote start button.

I unintentionally also noticed this happened this morning. I unlocked the truck and then when I used the remote start the doors locked. I assume this is normal because the truck is being put into remote start mode. I was able to just unlock them right away again.

That is normal. One of the requirements for remote start to work is the doors must be locked. If they are not locked, they automatically will one remote start is pressed.

Thanks Jim, I figured that would probably the way it was designed.

Success!!! I ordered the 5 button key fob from bam, went to my local dealer today and had the key programmed. Also they activated the remote start and the tailgate button worked automagically. (Thats the short version of the story)
Thanks to everyone that went through the process prior and special thank to the one that posted instructions for the dealers process in witech.

Can you confirm that the dealer only added the sales code for remote start, and did NOT add the sales code for remote tailgate release?

I confirm, the dealer only added code for remote start. Tailgate worked as a bonus of having the remote with that button. I stood right next to the tech as the process was performed.

Can you see if you have any issues using the fobs to unlock/lock the truck while it is remote started, or while it is running normally

I would love to know as well.

So far no issues. I just read through your other thread and will do some more thorough testing tomorrow.
On a side note: I previously purchased 2 fobs from UHS as the one you purchased. I was unable to get the fobs programmed. I did get my money back from UHS and purchase one from BAM wholesale. It arrived in sealed Mopar packaging. Not saying thats the causing the issues you are experiencing.

The one I purchased from UHS did not work either. They are sending me a new one, so hoping it works now.

I drove the truck all around today and trying different combinations of locking unlocking in conjunction with the remote start. I am happy to report no issues.

Make sure to check if they have a battery. The first one I received from them had a battery. The second one did not. Again neither work even after I put in a battery. The sealed brand new Mopar one purchased from BAM wholesale no issue.

I understand this is an HD forum, but since the 1500 forum has been down for a week, I thought I'd ask anyway. Does this work on the 1500 Tradesmen?

No. Well, not exactly. You still do need a hood latch pinned in the same location on the BCM, but the 5th gen (DT body) 1500s require a different RF Hub.

Lol. So yes? Are you talking about the RF Hub that comes on the vehicle from the factory? I've read through this thread a few times, and think I have the general logistics for the various methods to get remote start to work, and was hoping I that could go with the simplest system from the factory. Thank you for your time.

Yes, the rf hub that came with your truck. It is mounted on the back wall of the cab. The HDs use the same rf hub no matter what, but the 1500 DTs use a different rf hub for the remote start system. You would be better off buying the DT remote start kit. You would go through with the full install of all the parts, but you leave the new rf hub unplugged. That way, you are able to drive to the dealership. Once your truck is parked where they are going to do the programming, unplug your original rf hub, and plug the new one in.
