Remote start added to 2020 Tradesman (SOLVED)

Last night as I walked out to the truck I used the remote start and started the truck and immediately after starting the truck I unlocked the doors. No issues. I tried again this morning, and same thing; I was able to unlock the doors immediately.
Okay thank you

I don't know what is going on. Stood by my truck this morning trying to unlock it for 30-40 seconds. Remote start active.

I have 2020 2500 Deisel Tradesman and had the aftermarket department install it for 499 + tax and they used the factory fob, just have to push the horn 3 times. Does not void warranty and lifetime where factory one is not.
works great.

Might be a question for Jimmy. If there was a purple wire plugged in pin11 why I had to enable that pin for remote start to work ? It should be already enabled since there was a wire in it? Maybe I should disable whatever function was connected to pin 11? Sorry if this sounds stupid but I have no idea how this whole wiring works.

Just because the wire is there doesn’t mean it’s enabled. It’s just included as part of the left dash harness. Then, the front end harness plugs into the dash harness, which may or may not have the connector for the hood latch. Technically, that purple wire doesn’t have anything to do with how the key fob behaves with the RF Hub. All that purple wire is for is the hood ajar sensor, and that’s it’s only function- to determine if the hood is open or closed. The remote start system just happens to have to see the hood as closed for it to start the truck. If the truck remote starts, then everything with that purple wire is all good.

I removed that purple wire and inserted one that I ran from the hood latch

Correct. That’s because the purple wire that was there was only populated up to the front end connector in the engine bay. The front end harness that plugs into the front end connector was not configured with the purple wire/hood latch connector. That’s why if you install the hood latch kit, you run the wire straight from the hood latch to the bcm- to bypass the existing dead end purple wire.

Is there a way to test the FOB only to make sure fob is the problem?

Not that I can think of. It’s definitely some type of communication issue, or interference with the fob and RF Hub only when the truck is in remote start state. I’m just out of ideas as to what it could be. I can say it’s definitely not a wiring issue.

Next time you remote start, try holding your fob right by the bottom of the rear window at the center of the rear driver side seat, and see if it will unlock on the first try.

Bought a remote from the link on the first page. Took it to the dealer today and was there 1.5 hours. They said that they could not get it to work and they think it is because I got a 5 button remote for a tradesman. I don't know that they knew what they were doing. They said that the remote could be bad. Ugh. What a waste of time. Yes, I did check battery was good and they did show that the key fob was putting out a signal. I wonder if they were not programming the key fob correctly.

Is your hood latch wired?

The wiring is already there like in the photo on page one. Also, in AlfaOBD, the hood ajar setting is yes from factory. "Sense-Hood Ajar Switch: Yes" so I assume that means it is wired.

Pin 11 set to enabled?

No, not yet because I don't have the remote programmed. Do I need to have it enabled prior to getting the remote programmed?
My dealer charged me $75 to program the fob. To put sales codes for remote start they want another $75 bucks. So I told them just program the fob. If you activate it now they might reset it when they program the fob cause they have to flash the whole program in the car. I will do it after they program the fob.

I have a 2020 Tradesmen 2500 diesel. I bought an OEM kit (2 fobs & hood latch with wired switch switch) on the internet for $250. Didn't think I was going to need the latch switch but wanted to make sure what I had on my truck was the same. Took my truck to the dealer and with a little convincing got him to agree to at least try and program (he was not convinced I had the correct hardware) the new FOBS and turn on sales code. Remote start works great and dealer only charged me $65 for the programing work. Anyone need a hood latch switch?

Question here. I know this has been beaten to death but I just want to be clear. If my truck has the hood wire. Can I just get them to add the sales code and use the original key fob where you push the lock three times and everything work? WIthout buying anything else?
