Automatic Regen too often

I use premium blue 10w30 and stratopore filter anyways, and do changes around every 7500 miles. Oil doesn't seem to be the cause. About the only other thing I can think of is the difference between winter and summer blend.

With that said I did an oil change last week after a regen, and so far I'm at 14 hours and about 650 miles. It's almost always between 30-45% on the cluster. Every tank gets archoil treatment, with the heavy duty stuff every oil change.

My 2022 made it appx 70k miles without the DPF gauge ever lifting off zero.

One day, without warning, it decided to begin regens every 8-12 hours. Nobody can seem to figure it out, and they just wanna throw a DPF at it.

I’m leaning moreso towards throwing a DPF off of it.

Got this today. Made it 18 hours on last regen (after several 2-4 hour ones). Checked all connections (intake, boost tube, etc) and nothing appears loose. DPF reads 0 (hasn't been but about an hour since the regen). Ideas? Fuel filters are at 60%. Oil is new

Any pending codes?

That’s the truck telling you it’s overdue for a smaller exhaust system.

In all seriousness, I’d slap a code reader on it and see. Maybe another more knowledgeable member here can be more helpful for ya.

Do you know if a standard ODB2 will read it? Like from Oreillys

It has a stored code of P242B - EGT sensor circuit range/performance. Bank 1, sensor 3.

After shutting it off for an hour, and now driving it for an hour the code has not come back.

Any ideas?

Looks like the ECM detected an erroneous reading on the EGT3 sensor.

That code isn't related to soot loading or regen.
I think as long as it doesn't pop back up, and I dont have DPF clogging issues, then I'll drive it for now hoping it was just a brain fart on the ECM

Online says if it is up, it stops any regens. Hopefully i dont run into that and again, it was just a one off

Well, I have been away for a bit. 2022 has 57K miles, it regens almost everyday. The dealer told me the injectors were dirty and needed to be cleaned... truck regens even after towing 10K for over 1,000 miles. Get home it regens heading to work. Last week drove to the river towing about 7K for 600 miles, get home, regen..

Such BS. At this point, are we just deleting the DEF? Or call Ram Cares and start a larger paper trail? I take pictures ans videos so there are no excuses from the dealer .

My only questions would be what were the times on those? 1000 miles could theoretically be a timed (24 hr) regen

Diets seem to be the best way forward...

Times for the regens as in physical time or mileage between regent?

It gets a healthy diet of $8.20 a gallon of diesel

Physical time - like was the 1000 mile trip, even pulling the trailer, 24 hours? Since they do a timed regen every 24 hours if it doesn't do a soot based regen in the meantime

Great question. Towed the truck one way for 5 hours, it sat for 2 days, drove the load home for 6 hours.

I will start logging time. Lucky you on gas prices, CA is full Libtards

Frequent regens are a known issue, and there isn’t any one “fix”

It’s all a personal decision, but I’m definitely not paying the bill for a system that is problematic (and completely optional for the truck to function).

That is my exact thoughts! Guess I need to start research delete kits, if I have to spend money to fix an issue that is Libtard made I'd rather out it towards deleting this truck.
It is a hot topic around Family dinner with my brother in law, who is Peterbuilt's controller...
