They are being honest with you.Why can't they just be honest with us and give us straight answers as it would go a long way with brand loyalty at least with me.
They are giving you a straight answer.
From their perspective there is no known fix at this time.
From their perspective the issue is “under investigation at this time”. They quite literally know nothing beyond that.
Dealerships are the end of the line when it comes to information. Corporate gives them bits and pieces, and more often than not, leaves them in the dark the vast majority of times. In the case of the Cummins engine, this is even more the case, because Cummins themselves do a lot of the high level engineering R&D, as well as failure analysis. These things take a lot of time, especially on something as intricate and complicated as this “ticking” issue. The answers don’t immediately jump out at you. Lots of very ornate testing and analysis required just to pinpoint the cause, and then a myriad or re-design and further testing to see if the theoretical “fix” will work. Millions and millions of dollars at stake.
Nothing in the corporate automotive world moves fast. It took over a year for them to have a viable repair and diagnostic process outlined for the K1 snap ring failure issue with the 2022 Aisin transmission equipped trucks. And even longer to get a CSN program started to proactively repair trucks that hadn’t failed, or hadn’t even been sold off the lot yet.
