AMP power step wiring for 2025 RAM 3500

Good morning all,
for anyone wondering the AMP research power step plug n play kit PN: 76365-01A for 2025 WILL work for the 2026 as well! installed last night and working flawlessly.
well.......I may have spoken too soon. they work great until the truck is running then it's hit or miss if the steps will operate, they seem to work just fine if truck is idling, but as soon as it moved they stop working. the passenger side worked one time when the driver side didn't. the only way to get it to reset is with unplugging the re-plugging the OBD-II plug. has anyone else had this issue ?

I am having this exact same issue. Got the kit for the 2025. When you hooked them up was the “tan” wire more of a thick brown one? I thought maybe I got the wrong wire.

now that's interesting, I did notice that in the directions for that hook up, the orientation of the "gray plug" is different than in the 2026 but it says the "tan" wire on the lower RH side of the plug. I saw the brown wire you mentioned, but no I connected initially to a "tan" wire but the steps wouldn't work when switched to "RUN", I found another "tan" wire and hooked into that, now they will work in run and when truck is running but not once truck is shifted into gear. have you reached our to the manufacture yet? I plan to call them tomorrow.

I have not reached out yet I just finished the install today. The Brown wire was in the position in the instructions they mention and the tan wire looked more peach and was higher up in the connector. I was trying to find a diagram but no luck yet.

yea, the issue with the instructions is the orientation of the plug, it look like on the 2025 the two plugs sit flat next to each other, for 2026 they rotated them and put on on top of the other, so if you turn the plug in your mind it would be the lower left on what im assuming is the light gray plug. you see a peach / tan wire, that what i hooked into to get it to work while running. I can take a picture tomorrow.

That would help a lot. My plug is not like the instructions. It is arranged vertically. I also got an extra bracket. Any idea what that is for?

no problem, itll be this afternoon / evening before I can grab a picture. I too had an additional bracket, the directions never called it out so I assume its part of every kit ???

OKAY ! @Series80
I spoke with AMP research support, they were VERY helpful. after going over everything with them he said the most common causes regarding this kit and issue is with the ground and or the incorrect wire was tapped into. so first is to make sure the ground wire is connected to a body ground NOT THE BATTERY, (foolishly I hooked mine to the battery thinking it was as good as any ground) and for the OBD-II connection, the blue with white stripe wire is always the same, but he did advise that "sometimes" on the RAM 2500/3500 the "TAN" wire is white, it will be located next to the blue wire with white stripe. I Plan to make these changes tonight and will advise.

Well keep me posted on this because I still haven’t done the install on my 2025 yet for two reasons. Still waiting on a couple of reinforcement brackets and my truck is still at the dealership waiting on a new transmission.

Switched out to the white wire and everything seems to be working! I did have the negative on the body ground so I just switched out that one wire. Fingers crossed. Other than that the install was straight forward.

YES !!!! finally had the chance to switch the wire over, immediate improvement.
so according to AMP support some 2025's had a tan wire but some 2500-3500's have a white wire. the install manual doesn't call out the "white wire" option, but does sort of show that it is the wire next to the blue wire with white stripe. I told the person helping me that they might want to make mention of the location and possibility that the wire could be white as it was causing a lot of anxiety in the community regarding which wire is the TAN wire........ pictures below for reference.

Like @Series80 said, once white wire hooked up, they seem to be operating perfectly, even after a test drive.

no problem at all, if you need help once your ready to install please reach out, after living a breathing this for 2 straight days I feel ready to assist ! since your's is a 2025 it should follow the instructions.

Is this part number right? Reached out to get a set of the visions for my 2025 and they said they don’t have them available yet but the original ones are and the part number is AMP-76243-01A - AMP. From reading on here that seems to be false.

My steps on my 25 3500 are still not working correctly. I currently have the blue OBD wire connected to the white wire circled above and the white OBD wire connected to the blue with white stripe. The only thing I have to do is connect the ground somewhere else, currently connected to the battery. In the pictures above is that a tan wire on the bottom left?

I finally finished up my install yesterday. I had a white wire not tan on my 2025. Everything is working perfectly. I did use the ground on the left fender next to the battery, it’s a 10mm bolt.
