I tried to get my dealer to do the AC compressor TSB the other day and they wouldn't because it wasn't make the sound that day. Yep, and they wouldn't do it...now I didn't try to say, I'll pay...it was presumably he wouldn't do it and try to charge Stelantis for it. Just drove home last night from work and no noise...just started and moved the truck...no noise. So who the hell knowsI have seen the TSB and the procedure to perform it on here somewhere but don’t remember exactly where. It’s just simply loosening it then preloading it and torquing it back down.

I’ve contemplated that. I’ve been all over the interweb looking at posts with folks talking about lifter failures. I’ve seen lots of them have the whole valve train replaced only to have the noise come right back. I’m not convinced the noise is lifter related most of the time. I’ve had a motor with a failed lifter and it wasn’t gradual, it just failed and was pretty obvious. I'd ask them if they'd just put the tappet conversion kit in if you supply it... Mine might be a niche case but after 2 new sets of lifters and 2 cams (3 if counting factory) and a short block later.... And being almost timed out of power train warranty, I said scr3w this and went back to tappets.19-20 trucks had that issue. Interesting the cam changed...Correct.
19-24 use the CGI block with hydraulic lifters and a hollow cam.
25+ went back to the grey iron block but still uses the same lifters - same exact PN, I checked. All the other internal part numbers (expected) are different - cam, pistons, crank, etc.
