Looks like I’m going to be joining the hemi crowd. I trade my ‘22 in on a Sprinter van Thursday but still need a pickup for a few trips each year, which some towing and kid hauling.

I found a 2017 2500 CC LB Tradesman with a 6.4/4.10 combo and 153K on it. Drive excellent, pretty good shape, good price, and ok options for a tradesman. It’s white, like every Dodge/Ram I’ve owned and some of the stuff I’m taking off the ‘22 will fit.

Not a lot of mods planned aside from a B&W GN hitch, but likely will put 2” Thuren coils and airbags on it at some point.

No pics yet, sorry.

Get with @Jimmy07 and swap a ZF eight speed in it and you’ll be golden.

Which engine sprinter ?

They are a solid vehicle - very sensitive to maintenance being done exactly they way that MB engineers want it to be done.

Any german vehicle is sensitive to service schedules. Do it as per the manual they run forever, stray just a tiny bit and they become the biggest POS ever! Lol

Seriously its like all the new mods are getting downgrades! Lol

Just mixing things up. Wife and I are staring to do more solo trips and not having to drag a trailer is going to be awesome. We looked at some slide-in’s but weren’t really excited about any of the floorplans, weight, or overall height/size on back roads. So here we are. Exited, but also hoping we didn’t screw up. Worst case we build the van, don’t enjoy it, sell it and end up back in an 6.7/ZF truck in a few years. It’s only time and money, right.

First long towing test with the Hemi and the 5th wheel will be to a 55K I’m running in June. It’s a route I’ve towed countless times with my diesels over the years we’ll see how much regret I have then

Looking forward to that feedback. From everthing ive read, the Hemi loves the 4.10 rear end. You should be good.

I don’t think you will be too sad lol they are not that bad towing just thirsty!

Moving some things over form the 22, like the wheels (used for hunting and are off my 18) which will be getting some Duratrac RT’s soon, vent visors, better spare tire, bed mat, thuren active rate sway bar, front sumo springs, and probably a few more items.

Good luck with the Hemi. I had an 18’ 6.7 2500 and traded it for a Hemi in September of 22. Traded it for a 22’ 6.7 in May of 23’. I could not get the long bed Hemi to ride as good as the short bed 6.7. I mainly swapped back because of the EB.

Were you having trouble with your Cummins truck ?

I got all the fluids changed, aside from brake fluid, and I’ve been driving the truck a bit. It runs great, smooth, and quiet. A few squeaks to find, but that’s nothing crazy. The ride is good, probably as good as the 3500 auto-level with most driving, and it takes the big speed bumps at work a little better in the rear. The front does bottom out easier thou, likely from the softer springs. I do need to get the Thuren anti-sway bar and boogie bumps installed still thou.

I’m surprised how peppy it is compared to my HO’s. But the light weight and 4.10’s probably have a lot to do with that. The wife even said it doesn’t feel like the tank the diesels did.

I still need to get a bunch of the stuff off the 22 installed, but I’ve been busy with other things.

I wasn’t, but the DPF did fill faster than it should under some driving conditions. I could tell that if I had DD’d it more I’d likely have had frequent regen issues.
