Oil changes

$28 a gallon isn’t worth the extra 2 gallons sitting in such a large pale. You can buy 3 gallons at a time from Amazon for $23.

The quick filter service kits are easy to order, but the Mopar oil filter is just average. Several better options available from Fleetguard and Donaldson. I’ve asked Geno’s if they would start carrying the Donaldson DBL7349 and they are looking into it.

Plus unless you're pumping it, using 5 gal buckets is a PITA.

Geno's Garage for filters, Shell Rotella T6 5w40 from Walmart, Oil Filter cap off tool for genos, Drain pan, some basic tools, and 30 minutes of your time. I sincerely hope they did more than just oil filters for $900.
Klm Performance is also a good source for filter kits. About the same price as Geno’s.

T6 gallon at walmart 23 each. oil filter OEM 16, doc diesel filters Air, Fuels, Cabin.. 130 or so shipped. the price on blue filters is quite good for sure.. I travel so keep 3 or 4 is not possible.. maybe one or two.

Docs filters prices are good because they are sub-par. Their own published specs show they shouldn’t be used.

$16 for an OEM filter with the second lowest filtration specs is too much, IMO. It’s more like a $6 filter.

I tried a Doc air filter about 10k miles and when you couldn't find OEM. It produces frequent regens and that was the last time it ever used one.

I have heard that about other air filters with glue strip causing frequent regens.. on some of the facebook ram groups there are a ton of people using the Doc products with great results. guess YMMV.. for that matter most walmarts carry the OEM oil filter..

Glue strips are a cause but crap filter media will definitely cause it. I don't think Walmart carries fleetguard or Mopar.

Well there's your problem.

:)

Anyone use a CAT Filter?

No need when the DBL7349 is designed for the application and there isn’t a better rated full flow filter I know of.

Cat filters are a lot of hype, but for the most part when you dig into their specs they aren’t anything fancy. I mean people ditch the OEM fuel filter for aftermarket setups that use Cat filters that aren’t near as good of filters… marketing.

Glue strips and regens?

Glue strips and regens?
The glue strips don't cause the problem and lack of glue strips doesn't make for a superior filter.

The glue strips were simply a handy way to differentiate the two filters that came through the Mopar supply chain, one of which is not appropriate for 2019+.

Why does this matter? The Docs (or fram, or supertech, etc.) is not necessarily a correct or sufficient filter just because it doesn't have the reinforcing glue strips.

So itemized list is multi point inspection $0 oil change labor Oil and filter $344
Fuel filter and water separator $576.60
Some disposal charges but also like a $26.75 discount.

I was there for about 40 minutes.

It's also a conventional oil for ram diesel in warm climate. Seems like I was robbed.

Thanks for the input going to order everything now and be ready for next one.
I have all the tools I just figured first oil change best to do with dealer and have it noted that it was done. But every 6k miles that's insane.
Why do you want to waste oil ? Cummins says 15 k or annually . I have owned Cummins engines for 45 years , from 15 liter down to 5.9 and never changed oil sooner than Cummins stated and never had a lubrication related failure . Quit wasting your money ! Get an oil analysis halfway thru the oil life cycle if you like .

The "incorrect" filter is used in all year Hemi and pre-19 CTD trucks. Yes, we're discussing CTD in a diesel sub forum, just clarifying a data point.
