2024 Less than 200 miles leaking transfer case and squealing on startup

At some point, well before 2 1/2 months, I would begin blaming the dealer. While Ram seems to have a parts supply problem, the part is readily available outside of that supply line. If the service department's claim for warranty reimbursement is denied due to not using factory parts, then they need to fight that upward through their corporate system.

Boxerrider: i did raise **** with everyone at the dealership as my solution was just pull another tranny and t-case out of another truck and deal with corporate later, to which i was told. Ah no.. this fight isnt over yet.. im acctually going to reach out to Chrysler Canada and ask them what there plan is for not only compensation but an explanation as to why it takes 2 plus months to get seals. Why couldn't this have been shipped up from the US. I work in the transportation industry, so I fully understand how supply chains work And how long it takes to get **** delivered. And you're right, at some point I should have turned the wick up under their ass but as i work 80 to 100 hr work week It's pretty hard to play phone tag with these people when they work bankers hours. If the guy from Ram is on this forum is Interested in helping me that would be greatly appreciated.not sure how to reach out and message him.

They seem to be in short supply in the US too, except for the aftermarket suppliers.
I freely admit that, "I would lay some blame on the dealer", and "I expect it would do me any good", are two separate things. BTDT too many times to believe otherwise. I also agree that modern corporate (and bureaucratic) processes discourage real problem solving. My favorite personal stupid supply problem was a community college that couldn't provide summer grads with diplomas. College policy placed a monetary limit on purchases from each vendor per fiscal year, and they had already met that with the vendor that supplied the diploma paper. o_O While easily solved, nobody in the chain was willing to make it happen.
Good luck!

I noticed the leak at around 3000 miles on my 2024. The dealer was slow to diagnose and part was back ordered. I needed to tow my trailer for Christmas so I added the special fluid and put in a readily available SKF seal. This one also leaked, not at first and a little bit less, but good enough to make the 1200 mile round trip. Fluid level was still ok when I got home. I think it may be the vent system and I will look into it before taking it back for repair.

Is this problem just due to a bad seal? Or is there more going on with it? Mine has began to leak at 2500 miles and my dealer didn't leave me with confidence after saying they didn't see a leak so I had to show them the large oil accumulation on the service drive. Then had to ask if they are going to contact me if or when the seal comes in. Sadly they didn't seem competent.

The first logical thought, in three pages... Kudos!, Sir.

damn fellas. this sounds crazy. im over here doing my final research on these 2024 ram 2500 w/6.4 before pulling the trigger on buying one on monday. All this leaking problems, lifter issues, etc etc is just crazy. Sounds like the service side of dealers is lacking and parts are no where to be found? Brand New truck sitting for months and people having to buy rental cars etc etc. Sounds nightmarish

But they have parts to build new ones.

Ford and GM guys are going through it too. Not surprising, they know they can get away with it, there's no foreign competition.

Borg Warner makes these transfer cases... and yes, they're over pressurizing when the vent clogs.

My truck has 77 miles on it and is weeping.
With that happening maybe Ram got a bad batch of vents.

Also I would think that other brands are using Borg Warner transfer cases. So are they having the same issues?

Yep
I bought a 2024 with a Hemi and noticed it leaking at 7,000 miles althought it was leaking way before I noticed it. I traded that truck in at 7,400 miles and Bought a new Rebel with a Cummins and it is leaking with 480miles. I it scheduled for replacement now. Definitely a bad out of tolerance run of seals.
Same. Brand new 2024 RAM 2500 Diesel. Noticed oil spots on the driveway shortly after purchase. Did an inspection and determined there was a leak in the transfer case. Clearly a manufacturing issue. Shoddy workmanship.

I just checked my seal, currently not leaking, also my build date is 6-24 and purchased 7-24, hopefully the issue was corrected by the time mine was built, just turned 2000 mile this week. I will keep watching it though.

Not fixed. My build date on the Rebel HD was 9/2024 (Lunar Ed) and I bought on 10/2024. Going to put bags on it and saw the leak. I don’t recall seeing it when I installed the E Boards, but I got over 5k miles so not sure when it started.

24 Hemi that I bought in may of 24. I now have 7500 miles on it. Went under the truck for something else and noticed the leak. Il not sure when it started but I will be dropping by the dealer tomorrow. What worries me is how much transfer case fluid is missing if the leak started a while ago. The good thing is I only see a few drops on the floor of my garage.

Bought a new 2024 with 20 miles on it, Saturday 4/6/2024, left the dealership at 6:20pm with no issues (after their inspection I might add), and drove home approximately 40 miles. Got in it Sunday evening to go to church and on startup it began to squeal terribly. Drove it to church and after parking noticed that the squealing had lessened significantly. Got in to drive home after church and the same thing occurred. Took it back to the dealership Monday morning disgusted, asked that they please look at the vehicle to figure out the problem. They were kind enough to give me a loaner which, I am still driving by the way, because the truck is still in the shop. They found the issue to be the belt tensioner and pulley, but while there, they also noticed what they claimed to be a transmission leak. Upon further inspection 3 days later they concluded that the transfer case was leaking due to a bad seal. Parts will not be in until next week sometime. Needless to say, I am beyond frustrated and am totally blown away at the level of incompetence of these manufacturers and the apparent greed that eats them alive. No pride in what they are building and selling, just get it to the public we have to sell as many as possible for astronomical prices no less. Seems to be no quality control anymore because there is no accountability for the (crap) they are building and selling to the people.

Is anybody else having issues like this with these brand-new trucks?
Mine got to 3700 miles on a 2024 Power Wagon found the leak by accident. Figure half ass assembly line workers pinched the seal or just plan old cheap Mexican parts did it.

i have a 2024 ram 3500 drw with 12K and its leaking trans fluid from the rear output shaft it seems like this is a common issue with the 68rfe trans i gotta take mine in and hopefully its a quick fix due to time constraints.

There have been several people here with the Transfer Case seal leaking on their new 23-24 trucks with low miles, myself included at 420 miles. Free Warranty repair.
Yep same here. Had it changed but still at the dealership for regen problems. Only 29k miles

I have a 2024 Ram 2500 Cumming with 9,940 miles and my output shaft seal on my transfer case had to be replace. I think a recall is needed.

My 2024 2500 Tradesman started leaking from the transfer case at about 1000 miles. Took it in and the dealer had the seal in stock and fixed in 2 hours. Guess I'm lucky. I think a lot of the overall experience has to do with the quality of the mechanics the dealer is hiring. My previous experience with a 2018 1500, the dealer was backlogged for 2 months on any repairs because they could not find / hire qualified mechanics. The dealer I am with now seems to be on top of things and pays attention to owners of the trucks they sold.

I have a 2023 5500 that had oil that was spraying out of the front drive shaft seal. I thought that was crazy, as I've never seen a t-case do that. It was seriously hot. I checked the vent and it was totally blocked. My truck has less than 10k. CHECK YOUR VENTS!! It takes 2 min. I'm betting that there's an issue there. Might be the reason it's leaking. The exhaust gets the case hot, and it will pressurise the case, making a leak. My dealer it's in the process of replacing my case.

I’m surprised they’re replacing your transfer case. But good on them for doing so. I’m on the third seal, which is working as intended currently, but they removed the transfer case on mine to reseal the halves. They said if it eats another seal, they’re replacing the transfer case. That was about 10k miles ago.
