Bought a new 2024 with 20 miles on it, Saturday 4/6/2024, left the dealership at 6:20pm with no issues (after their inspection I might add), and drove home approximately 40 miles. Got in it Sunday evening to go to church and on startup it began to squeal terribly. Drove it to church and after parking noticed that the squealing had lessened significantly. Got in to drive home after church and the same thing occurred. Took it back to the dealership Monday morning disgusted, asked that they please look at the vehicle to figure out the problem. They were kind enough to give me a loaner which, I am still driving by the way, because the truck is still in the shop. They found the issue to be the belt tensioner and pulley, but while there, they also noticed what they claimed to be a transmission leak. Upon further inspection 3 days later they concluded that the transfer case was leaking due to a bad seal. Parts will not be in until next week sometime. Needless to say, I am beyond frustrated and am totally blown away at the level of incompetence of these manufacturers and the apparent greed that eats them alive. No pride in what they are building and selling, just get it to the public we have to sell as many as possible for astronomical prices no less. Seems to be no quality control anymore because there is no accountability for the (crap) they are building and selling to the people.

Is anybody else having issues like this with these brand-new trucks?

There have been several people here with the Transfer Case seal leaking on their new 23-24 trucks with low miles, myself included at 420 miles. Free Warranty repair.

Appreciate the response. Definitely covered under warranty, it's just frustrating to have to deal with this on a new truck. We buy new instead of used to keep from having these issues and then we still have them.

Haven't had any issues since yours has been repaired?

Just bought a new 2500 last week. Less than 500 miles on it. Got under it today to put running boards on and noticed the leak. Have an appointment to take to dealer on Thursday. Transfer Case Leak 6-11-2024.jpg

Myself and a few others have had the Rear Seal leak on the Transfer Case seal. Mine was at a little over 400 miles.

This happened to me. . about the same amount of mileage when I noticed it. Took it in, transfer case seal, they waited 5ish days for the part and fixed it. Good since then.

2024 6.4 2500 - I have the same squeal up front .. my front drive shaft is also flinging grease all over the underside of the truck .. the real bad new is a lot of metallic sheen in the oil.

I have a 2024 Ram 2500 with 2,000 miles. Noticed what appeared to be oil stain on my floor under truck. After inspection noticed dripping fluid. Took truck to dealer and it’s a bad transfer case seal. Despite asking for a loaner, I got a story about how hard it is to provide loaners this time of year. Part not in stock and fix is a week out if they get expedited delivery. The is 100% unacceptable for a brand new truck to need a repair like this and for the dealer not to accommodate me not having a car for over a week.

Sounds like par for the course, unfortunately. Hope that's the only gremlin that pops up for you.

I had to have the transfercase output shaft seal replaced at around 2500 miles. Tech stated that looks like transfercase may have been ovefilled, causing seal failure. It's been good since then now on 5000 miles.

Just got back from a 1600 mile round trip with my 2024. Truck has right under 2k miles and now have the same seal leak.

Just noticed the same leak on my 2024 2500 6.7 with 1200 miles on it. Got it 2 weeks ago. Guess I’m heading back to the dealer. I also have a bad “chirp” when shifting into drive after the truck has sat for more than ~10 minutes.

I completely agree, after 9 days at the dealer and only replacing the output seal, my transfer case is still leaking. Dropped it at a different dealer this morning so they can check it out Thursday. I’m 820 dollars into rental fees so far, plus my time, to repair an 80k dollar truck. I’ve only owned the truck for 3 months and 4600 miles. My case manager won’t call me back and I’m praying this dealer is good. They seemed nice and accommodating so far, unlike the dealer who didn’t repair it correctly despite me telling them the case appeared to be leaking as well. Frustrating to say the least. I’ve posted all about it over on the diesel forum. Never had these issues with Toyota. Making me second guess this purchase every day which sucks because I love the truck.
