I know the past 3 i just bought the power cable and ran it. do they still put them in the 21 and up? its cold and havnt had a chance to hunt down the port and check yet.

yea i dont have the cable. never got them with any of the 6.7's ive had. ill order one today. maryland rarely gets to freezing temps and well, this morning had better ideas.

Last Monday afternoon we suddenly had a need to drive 40 miles down to town. Looked at the outside temperature and it had warmed up to a toasty 3F from much lower negative temperatures. Darn, I hadn't plugged in our 2024 Ram 3500 HO Cummins 6.7L block heater with it parked out in an unheated enclosed pole barn. I had installed a cord on it shortly after our purchase last Fall for our Rockies temperatures. The diesel started right up after a longer pre-heat wait cycle to a faster idle. Gave me more faith in our purchasing of a diesel versus our 2016 Ram 2500 6.4L. Never needed to install a block heater on it due to we didn't have an electrical outlet for our trucks until very recently.

Just plugged in our 2024 6.7L block heater at -18F at 8:30 AM. The "super flexible" Electryx 14 gauge 25 foot electrical extension cord that I purchased is about as flexible as a stiff radiator hose.

Yeah, I hear you. I’m a little southeast from you. Yesterday was 9, today was 12. I also need a cable. Which end fits better, 90 degree or straight?

These Southwire brand from Lowes are great and WAY cheaper than anywhere else I could find similar. They were online only ship to home or store and took a while to ship.

I got one blue, one yellow and lashed them together with velcro every foot. One stays on constant for the onboard trickle charger, one goes on via automation below 20 and when I'm home during certain hours I might need to use the truck.

I scored a 50' on amazon cheap but they've since gone up to $52. Still half the Lowes price on this one.

Finished wiring our pole barn last November where the Ram diesel is parked inside with 225 feet of buried heavy gauge electrical cable to have power from a shed to it for the engine block heater. Only issue is that my 250 feet of temporary extension cords have been buried in snow and frozen in thick ice since last October. It won't be until April or May that they'll unfreeze from the ground and can be removed. All 12 gauge cold weather extension cords which wasn't cheap. Useless now other than being a tripping hazard across our field. Readily available at Murdoch's Ranch and Home Supply on the shelves. So in the snow country it's best to pick up the outdoor extension cords immediately after each usage.

Do you find they get stiff on the cold? I had the blue one but it was brutally stiff in-20°C so I went with some high end cord from my local electrical warehouse and some lighted eaton ends and made my own cable plus its 12/3 and cheaper than buying those cords on amazon and way more flexible even at -40°C.

-20C (-4F) must be the cutoff. We had -3F (19.5C) here and they were fine.

I see it comes with the christmas trees to fasten it in place. Do you have something that shows how the cable is supposed to be routed and where each of those fasteners goes?

I utilized this website. Screenshot of the video. When it came to the very front of the truck my 2024 Ram 3500 4x4 differed. I went up through a gap on the passenger side of the condensor/radiator with my plug-in through the grille.

Went to a company party saturday and walked away with the norovirus. so i have been down and out until today. no energy no anything out of me pretty much. so never got this installed. ill try and get it on this weekend as im tired of being inside.

But with the harness being OEM it runs down the frame rail and the it all snaps into the existing holes ect. pretty straight forward from the last 3 ive done on my trucks.

I just took these photos of our 2024 Ram 3500 4x4 Mopar Engine Block heater wire connection location. It goes through the grille to avoid having to stoop down in the snow and ice with a lower position. Not washed since purchased last October due to it's still below freezing high temperatures.20250130_095828.jpg20250130_095922.jpg
