Official 2025 Ram HD

You will never convince me that using a column shifter is easier or faster than using a rotary dial, plowing snow or not. Some people have really strange demands from automakers.

The problem is the positive feedback and knowing where the dial is did not exist on the Ram version.

FWIW, I had a Genesis GV70 rental last week and it's 100% positive R or D engagement on their dial as that's all there is (R/D) and the (P) is a button in the center.

Do you mean fender flares? If so, those were removed from the Laramie trim starting in model year 2023
I didn't know that, my '22 has them. Doing the Ford thing I guess. People are complaining about the various bits Ford took off the Lariat.

Raise the price, give us less. Sort of like the half empty cereal boxes in the stores now.

Yeah lots of little trinket cuts starting in 23. No more hitch reducer bushing, no fender flares on Laramie, cut the wood grain steering wheel from the Longhorn and Limited, only one Longhorn badge now instead of three, etc etc. I wasn’t sure if some stuff would be brought back for 25 or not. I guess I have my answer.

Every one’s doing it. The fleecing of the consumer. The worst is the airline experience - reduced seat size in coach etc.

Funny you bring this up. This was the last thing holding me up from swapping the 23 limited wheel into my truck to complete the digital cluster swap, with the correct steering wheel controls.
Then I found this on eBay and just put it in today. I’ve never seen one like this before, and have no idea how, but it definitely came off a 23 HD Ram:

I added a steering wheel with wood grain to my 23 1500. I'd love to add one to my 24 3500. That's a great find.

I love my 2019 Limited steering wheel; I think only the buttons are different?

Well that’s an odd find. I wonder if it was a test or preproduction part that ended up in the wrong place. The 1500 has a different spline count, right?

That’s the only thing I can think of, that it came off a pilot vehicle, as they do go to junkyards for scrap. The 1500 wheel is different spline, and different airbag/horn mounting hooks.

That’s a lucky find!

They also removed the chrome trim from the door handles on the Laramie and higher trim models.

Learned this the hard way. Got a 1500 limited wheel I've got to sell in the spring.

I gotta say, the return to the column shifter is 100% a win for me. I do not for the life of me understand who thought having 4 options on a dial makes sense. Neutral is almost never used during day to day driving. Park should be a button. If the rotary was a simple reverse and drive, it would be fine for me personally, maybe even preferred over the column, but you lose the ability to quickly jump from drive to reverse and back with a rotary where park is all the way left, thus you can jump past reverse into park. I don't know if the dial stops you from rotating into park? Perhaps you have to press and hold it in park? I don't know, overall I simply avoided it, and stuck with what I like and know.

The thing I'm most excited about with this change, is that the power wagon controller will now be a possible swap into non power wagon trucks. So I'm hopeful I can take my 2019 4x4 control out, and replace it with the new power wagon controller. That would enable me to add front and rear lockers as buttons that are OEM, which would be great.

Now, this may be more complex than it's worth, trying to wire into the OEM harness, or pull to those switches, but it would be dope if possible.

The 2025s are on the "Atlantis" architecture, which is an entirely different CAN system, so it's highly unlikely it'll be compatible.

That aside, the shifter/button assembly is basically a small computer on the CAN. The locker buttons are sending signals over the bus, so you'd need to grab the wires elsewhere. The computer is also looking for a locked/unlocked signal to return, so you'd need to work that out somehow.

As an aside does the front locker work now with out re-wiring and adding a computer like 2018 and older PWs? Really hoping to not have to do that again.
