*Breaking News* 2025 Orders from MARK DODGE **

I don't mind the 6.7 diesel at all, but owning one in CA can be complicated.

When the gasoline version comes out in the megacab, even with the more modest power levels, - that will be just fine for me.
What are the complications?

Noticed an update to RAM's 2024 2500 rebates today. 10% off MSRP for Tradesman - unfortunately does not apply to what I'm seeking (Power Wagon)...

"Offer applies to 2024 RAM 2500 TRADESMAN® CREW CAB 4X4 6'4" BOX.
Offer valid toward the purchase of a new and unused vehicle. Not compatible with any other retail offers. Residency restrictions apply. Contact dealer for details. Must take delivery by 02/03/2025."

Hear Ye Hear Ye!

Late this afternoon we got the order guides for the 2025 HD Ram lineup!

CODE GUIDES Are what drives the content, price protection, etc. However, not everything in the code guide on day one will actually be able to order on day one. Some times things are delayed, and some times the code guide has items that never happen through an entire model year. For example 2024 code guide had some entire configs that never opened (Bed/Cab/Engine combos) or in the 1500s there were some colors that took 9 months to open.

WEBSITE The build & price will open, eventually, but usually not for at least a few weeks behind code guide. If there is a conflict between code guide and website......code guide wins.

ORDERING SOFTWARE (VOIM) This is where we can actually generate your build sheet (preview or confirmation, once ordered). This is how we find out if an item is available to order or not, at that particular moment. Something closed in VOIM usually overrides it being open in the code guide, unless there's an error or unintended conflict.

DETAILS Right now, the code is what we've got. There have not been any other releases of training materials, pictures, explanations, etc. If you're ordering anything before physically seeing it - you're taking some educated risks. There are going to be some things that we just won't know until they show up, and that can be fun. But don't make assumptions - if you're curious about a specific feature that was in a specific package in years past, it may have moved!

TIMING It's going to be a long haul. While production should start in January, we've already been warned that the roll-out will be staged/paced similar to the Ram 1500s. It may be that not all trims start in January. It may be that January starts production across all trim levels, but only small quantities. It also can be open trim levels but limited which level packages. Or colors. All of these parameters were in play on the 2025 MY for 1500s. Not long ago, our average HD order was taking 5-7 months due to chip/supply issues. Most of this calendar year they were taking more like 2-4 months.

REBATES In the beginning, there will be none. Mostly, because they don't have any cause to update the rebate guide until the first ones ship. Don't bank on 'em in the beginning.

DISCOUNT All 2025 HD Factory Orders through Mark Dodge will be discounted 11% off MSRP - that is straight dealer discount, before any rebates or other qualifiers. Our discount does not conflict with anything else offered by RAM!
All orders subject to $425 Doc Fee, $4 Temp Tags. $1K deposit required to place order (due once you receive all signed paperwork)

Example
MSRP $80,000
Dealer Discount -$8,800
Doc Fee $425
Temp Tags $4
Total before your state's TTL $71,629

OK enough of that banter - here's the link to the code guides - https://sharesync.serverdata.net/us4/s/3KuGcu8kz7upwD4OihvRVW003f24cd

If you're interested in ordering a 2025 HD Ram, we'd love to help. At the moment, what you can do is email us directly at [email protected] and list out what you're looking for. You don't have to write out every code, price, and name - but please be a bit more specific than "fully loaded" We'll run it through the ordering software, get you a price, and work through the answers on any questions together.

Thank you thank you for all of your interest and support and great community here!
Order question if I may … say you order a big horn with equipment level 1 equipment group … it has buckets as one of the features. Yet you can click the cloth bench seat before at the start. Which actually shows up? Does the buckets in the package override the bench selected or does the bench over ride the equipment level 1 seats ?

Thank you for the help !

The option always overrides the standard feature.

What are the complications?

The technical side complications are that owning any vehicle here is expensive. Payments, insurance, license fees, smog, etc.

Also, parking here at my house only has limited space, so I don't have parking space or the finances to own more than one vehicle for my own use. It is a daily driver, entertainment and getting things done. ( towing a few things, moving around some stuff and people )

A modern diesel engine plus emissions add on is not really the right setup for the way that I will use it, 75% of the time, or it risks emissions system failures.

I have a lot of experience with gasoline engines and zero with diesel, but everything that I read indicates that a gas engine is a lot better for my use.
______________

On the regulations side, there is a small group of diesel fuel haters that have taken over the emissions controls related air quality boards and they do literally anything that they can think of to make it difficult to own a diesel fuel based vehicle, even if it is very clean.

The latest is to require a smog check every 6 months vs every 2 years for most vehicles, and they plan to make this every 3 months in the future. Each check costs ~ $100 plus your time. Also they are imposing more and more fees on the license. It will cost well over $1000 per year, possibly 2 x that just for license related fees.

AFAIK, every pick up truck is treated as a "commercial vehicle", so it just keeps adding up.

I did quite a few scenarios of my use in general for a megacab, and more than 50% required a 3500 SRW to do, once you actually put 4 - 5 people, stuff, fuel and a 5 K lb trailer to stay "legal". Even if the truck can do much more physically, going over the legal limits is an expensive ticket.

I like the suspension of the 2500 much better, but...

So those are the reasons.

_______________

If I am correctly reading the order sheet information, right now, the only option for the megacab is diesel 6.7 Cummins, so who knows.

Man that must be regional... we didn't get that sort of love - I will have to check all regions and post up some results shortly.

This behavior is a little inconsistent - SOMETIMES you can still override to get your lesser-priced options (bench) other times it will have a forced modifier to get buckets. It has been different on various trim levels over the last few years. Would have to look at it case by case and can confirm in detail before locking in.

Didn't watch the video, but a few little things not likely mentioned:

- New metal/rubber gasket between the block and aluminum front gear housing.
- The rear main seal is now pressed directly into the new transmission adapter, replacing the separate trans adapter/rear seal carrier.
- The damper has an integrated square 1/2" drive recess.
- The EGR Bypass Valve is still there, but no more bicycle cable; instead it's direct-actuating like the EGR Valve, but has a liquid-cooled housing.

Let me know if you have any questions about the diesels, I can try to answer.

For the 6.4. Did the coolant passage issue causing the exhaust manifold bolt issue and other manifold bolt issues such as bolt size and depth get addressed? A new manifold designed to crack came out in 2019, but that is all I know. Did the lifter issues get squared away?

Is the new Cummins block not CGI anymore? Also, is the head iron or did they go to Aluminum? What about weight, the old motors, 2019 - 2024 I think, were 1,070-1071 lbs...

It's back to grey iron but is a completely different design than either the 19-24 or the earlier ones. Head is cast iron, but it's also different...it's a perfect rectangle now, and the aluminum air intake bolts up to the cold side. The rockers are also new, much lower than before due to the fuel system change.

I'm not sure about weight. I think it might be slightly heavier than the CGI?

2500 Code Guides were updated yesterday, 3500 updated 12/16, I've refreshed them in that shared folder link.
More links & goodies coming later today just trying to digest SOME of it but I know there's some experts in here that will do more of t he heavy lifting LOL

@AnthonyRI the configurator says you can order the Limited Crew Cab in V8 now? That's hidden big news.

Also, looks like your'e forced into the Rambox with 6'4 bed in the limited trim.

No - limited is diesel only.
Yes - limited/longhorn 6'4" is rambox unless 5th prep (only way to delete)

Ahhh... that's something that's not obvious. The configurator is so buggy that for a split second when I selected the 5th wheel, the bed showed a truck without ramboxes... but then the configurator decided not to cooperate.

I added the new power option, which of course is years late compared to competitors. But its says "Late availability" . Guessing I need to skip that option if I need the truck with in a reasonable amount of time?
